classic impreza gearbox, diff and clutch change
ok this is gonna have to be in stages,,,,,, mainly cause i aint finished it yet
also take into a count i work in a office and aint ever done a gearbox on anything other than ford escorts,,,,, and then i had help with them but ill give it a go,,,,,, nothing ventured and all that, might i also add that i have had LOADS of info off here to help me gain the confidence to give it a crack,,,,, so when he goes wrong its all your fault ! !!! pmsl
pictures also might not mean anything but ill try to get better ones
first get some old ropey shed of a car ,,,,, heres one i found
i really hate them "temp" pins that have been on there over a year now
time to take em off
bit more like it
now open bonnet,,,,, and make a nice brew,,, look at the car and think " should i really bother with this "
now i need a gearbox and,,, well diff due to the ratios i wanna change to !!!
oh look there one is
lets take a look at see how bad the rust is on this old shed
well a car cant rust when its loosing THIS MUCH gearbox oil,,,,, guess the cat never pissed in my car after all pmsl
now is there enough room,,, in my "slightly smaller than a double garage"
now, how to i take out the driveshafts,,,, always a pissy hate of mine,,,, oh look
what a cool idea ( take note ford) roll pins holding in the shafts,,, they will be **** to remove
right,,,,, lets get started
ok ill add more pics,,, as i got carried away and just started unbolting stuff when i was under the car,, doh !!!!

I look forward to this, I changed my last 2 boxes on a ramp but I fancy do the next one in the drive...god knows why but I'm hoping it might be easier than balancing it on a gearbox jack for hours on end while I struggle on my own to fit it.
Take care when you refit the box to make sure you have the clutch lever in correctly.
Once you get the box in and close to sliding up the final couple of inch's you may need someone to wiggle the fork as you slide it up.
My first box went in really easy, the second took me about 20mins to get in the right place and then I spent all day trying to get it on the last 2 inchs, I took it off several times and generaly pissed about changing the angle of it etc but no way would would it go up all the way.
I came back the next day and got someone to wiggle the clutch fork while I pushed it on and it went in no probs.
Have you removed the down pipe? it makes life much easier when you come to refitting the bloody thing. Oh and I would maybe undo your engine mounts and tilt the engine back using a jack at the front, it helps when you come to refitting.
Good luck
