Hi all thort i'd post my new project its a 96 Version 2 STI bought it as a bloody good condition 65k miles and rebuild under its belt with history of 10k in receipts, etc etc so i thort it be good ... o wait my luck with cars lets me down again haha day or 2 of owning it i notice the water system pressurizing under load so i take it to get checked, they suggested head gasket so got them to do that and when they took it apart they found out it threw a tooth on the timing because of a warn bottom pully coursing it to overheat and blow a head gasket ... go me! ... weird thing is it wasnt down on power still drove like it should haha.
I bought the car for 2.5k and i bought it with the following mods
* HKS Induction Kit
* HKS 2.5" Exhaust
* HKS Boost Controller
* Front and Rear Splitters ...
Been quoted 1.3-1.4k for rebuild and i've spend probley £600 on extras including
* Subaru Mud flaps x4
* 3" Exhaust & Downpipe
* S/S Manifold and Uppipe
* Uprated Fuel Pump
* Few bits for the stereo so i can plug my cd player, etc into it - it had the original chinese radio in it :P
* Strut Braces
* Few other bits and bobs

luckly it didnt bend any valves or warp the head .. just needs a damn good clean
While its there i've got them to fit the new 3" turbo back exhaust system and a S/S Manifold and Uppipe (See below) The've just fitted the engine back in the car so hopefully get it back in the next couple of days - The've had 3 weeks on tuesday i miss it and want it back hehe.

Howdy

Can you give me an idea of the cost of just replacing the head gasket? any idea how long it took? I just sold my 96 sti (with refurb engine) and looks like the head gasket is fooked. It has warranty, but just the parts, not the labour. Thoughts?
