Default My new engine/ ongoing project

I bought a heavily modified WRX out of Scottsdale, Arizona in Feb. Drove down and towed it home. Here are some pictures of the project. The old engine had a timing belt slip off and it bent some intake valves. I figured if I am going to pull the motor, why not replace with something a little beefier?

Car:

My friend JJ:

Here is what it looks like all clean/ running:

Pulling the old engine:

It's apart, only has bent intake valves:

AND NOW THE NEW!!

It took me several months to get it squared away (mostly due to my laziness), but the shortblock done now.

- 2.2 Liter Turbo Legacy case, bored/sleeved
- Darton ductile iron sleeves
- US STi forged crank, balanced/polished/drilled for better oiling
- Pauter Forged connecting rods
- Ross forged pistons, moly coated skirts, swaintech gold coated tops
- ACL race series bearings for mains and rods
- ARP oversized head studs

I realized I don't have the crank sensor, and I need an avcs cam bolt. Look how dirty my intake manifold is compared to my purdy new painted parts! A little more progress made today:

Thanks!

Before it blew up, it made 360 HP to the wheels on 91 octane pump gas on a Dyno Dynamics. On this new setup, I would be happy with that or a little more (for now). Next year I want to further upgrade my fuel system and get a much larger rotated mount turbo.

just out of interest, whats the fuel price in the states?

our has just gone up to £1.09.9 per litre which equates to $2.19.8 but this is for 99 ron

It varies...right now it is $3.18/gallon of 93 octane. You would LOVE the favorable exchange rate.

I am in the middle of the US, it can be much higher in other areas such as Los Angeles, Chicago or New York.

Well done, any plans to run it down the strip or track?
