At a random guess:
Drop Auto gearbox out of car
Remove plate on engine
Install flywheel onto engine
Install Clutch onto flywheel
Install Gearlinkage into the car
Install Box onto the car
Connect Linkage up.
Drive it.
My only thoughts would be taking the speedo sensor out of the auto gearbox and putting it into the manual one. BUT the 1997 ones most were electric then. Except the STI3....
Wiring on the manual box isn't anything major TMK.
Depends how much saving you are making on it as:
WRX Gearbox Used - ~£300
Clutch New - £150
Flywheel New - ~£250
Gearlinkage - ~£50
Labour Cost Varies.

Not forgetting new centre console and associated trim and more importantly the small matter of a clutch pedal !! Thus you will also have to remove existing pedal box, replace with one from a manual car, fit clutch cable (remembering to drill/unblank hole in bulkhead for cable to pass through).
Good luck
Good luck
