***My version 2 STi project restoration and rebuild ***
So got this last week and I'm over the moon with it , it needs a little work but that said it's in amazing condition but I plan on making it 100% mint aswell as giving it a little attitude
To do list
New exedy clutch
Full cambelt kit
Oil + fluid changes
General engine bay refresh
Then the modding will start, cosmetically it won't change much but it'll be lowered on a nice set of wheels and I want at least 300bhp but for now here he is
i was bidding on it on ebay - made huge money!
best of luck with it - looks solid shell
Yeh I bought it totally blind but the guy was genuine and I'm happy with it I don't think I over paid for it either considering it's condition , 1 owner with 106km
Prices of clean v1+v2s are on the up so it's a sound investment and I don't really have any plans of selling it anyway
So fitted new cambelt kit all the belts, new exedy clutch , had the flywheel skimmed and balanced, replaced any corroded pipes fitted all new clips, fresh diff gearbox engine oils aswell as a full coolant systems flush ( the alloy header tank needs to be changed ) but went over it front to back
Then painted all the fan covers and anything that needed touching up, aswell as removed and painted in inlet manifold ( I have a spare one I'm going to be getting sent away and finished properly but for now the letter box red will do )
So ordered 4 new toyo proxes had the wheels spun balanced, and put on new Compomotives decals aswell as new wheel nuts ( until my light weight ones turn up )
Pretty happy with them no rubbing and fit perfectly

Hey, nice build you have there. Thanks for sharing pics.
Lovely car you have there, glad to see it being looked after.
Thanks I'm trying to get it 100% mint
So it was out with the alloy expansion tank ( which was knackered ) and after having idle issues after trying a different BOV I decided to back to OEM so replaced them both with new original items
So after finding one of my front calipers is binding on I decided rather than just look at fixing it , I’d do the brake upgrade I had planned anyway. I considered going for the brembos or even a bigger k sport or d2 6 pot but I really wanted to try and stay as true to the car as possible so spoke to Ian at Godspeed and looked at there “copy” 4 pot kits but I really didn’t like the idea of fitting replica parts to the car but then I was offered original 4 pots fully rebuild with stainless pots and powdered coated already to replace my oem calipers . I’m sure many of you would have gone for a much larger aftermarket caliper but I’m sure these will do what I ask of them just fine
I would highly recommend Godspeed if your considering doing a brake upgrade or just want them to refurb your existing setup, Ian was super helpful and they arrived securely wrapped within a few days
In the kit you get 2 calipers Kevlar pads 298mm g grooved discs and fitting kit, I also got a set of braided brake lines .I’ll get some dot3 brake fluid to relace the old stuff to
So I had a tiny water leak from a split hose and I wanted to do a coolant flush and refill the car with Evans waterless coolant as the car can often stand for weeks at a time so I decided I’d go for a full silicone hose kits aswell and do it properly
Looks good dude, reminds me of my first one. Good effort cleaning the old girl up. Nice to see some early model cars getting some love....
If you're using Evens coolant. Make sure you always keep a fresh bottle in the boot. If you ever have a coolant issue when you are out and about obviously you can just top the system up with water you have to use Evens and breakdown companies don't carry Evens in their vans.... be sure to use the Evens engine flush before putting the waterless coolant in.... do no mix this with water....
Look forward to seeing more updates....

Thanks for the heads up, I'll have 2.5l left over after so I'll keep a bottle in the car , although fitting all the pipes is a huge job and will be easier with the engine out so whilst it's out its coming apart and getting a full rebuild so watch this space

Just spotted a mistake in my reply to you that's worth pointing out. Auto correct changed my response from can't to can. What I ment to say was " obviously you CAN'T mix Evens coolant with water so carry a bottle around ".... I'm sure you got that from the rest of the message anyway but i just wanted to be clear ....
So !!! After attempting to fit all the new hoses it turned out the head gasket was weeping, luckily not into the block though, so it’s now time to pull the engine and it’s off for a full rebuild plus a load more mods , so watch this space as I spunk another few grand on the old girl !!
Bit of a update, it’s been a nightmare few months, the engine was stripped , all the head work and machine work done. Then prior to the rebuild beginning we notice the piston liner had been cracked during the machine work !!!
