Default HKS Headers V1-V6 GC8 / GF8

I have for sale a set of used but in A1 condition HKS headers for V1 - V6 GC8 / GF8 Impreza. They cost £740 + VAT when bought. They have only done 600 miles then sat there for 18 months. I did have the up pipe to go with them but it was choped to do a rotated turbo set up. They will run with a stock up pipe, stock cat up pipe or a de-cat / hi-flow up pipe with the standard 2 bolt flange. They start and finish in the same place as the standard manifold so are a direct bolt-on. They sound great, give better spool and will flow enugh to make 500+ BHP. They do not crack or split like cheep copy headers and i know of 2 sets of these that have been run at 500+ BHP every day for 3+ years. I am looking for £400. Pics below:

Will the car need a remap after fitting these?

Whereabouts are you, fella? Potentially interested if I can collect.

Shame the matching uppipe is gone, cos using a standard one would lose the higher flowing advantage of the headers. Higher power potential - agreed - but, better spool?? Conventional wisdom is that the larger diameter loses a bit of low-down power and spool, because they're more suited to the higher gas speeds further up the rev-range.

Agreed but you can buy a good one for about £90. Last one i had for another car was from Paul at Lateral Performance.

I agree with you. The larger diameter and greater volume of these headers should mean that they lose more heat energy and reqire more exhaust gas to fill befor they would spool the exhaust turbine. In my aplication i ran a TD05-20G and already had a turbo back 3" exhaust. When i installed the headers i also heat-wraped them and fitted a high flow up-pipe. Maybe this is why i manged to decrease my spool up time or maybe the HKS headers do a better job of aligning the exhaust pulses, I don't know why but i worked for me

You will be advised to map accordingly every time you change a major componet in your set up but if it is just fitting these headers i would have the boost controll checked and the car scoped for det. I have fitted these to a MY97 RA and did not have to do a thing. Stay safe and have it checked.

Sorry for the slow reply mate. You have lost me but I think you mean when i say de-cat you think down pipe because all the older GC8 cars have the cats in the down pipe but i know this will fit later modles that have the cat in the up-pipe.

Not really.
You have a complete manifold back system, what parts are in it??
Also, the uppipe in the system, has it got a 2 bolt flange where it conencts to the manifold (i.e. like the stock one)or does it use a 3 bolt connection there??

System is not complete, as per first post. Up-pipe is not included.

The headers were bought and ran on the car for 600mile with the HKS up-pipe. The turbo fitted at the time was aTD05-20G. The up-pipe was given away to a friend who choped and rotated it for his set up. The TD05-20G was sold on and a GT35R was bought. So then the was the HKS headers, custom 2 bolt up-pipe ( that fits the HKS and all direct fit headers ) GT35R turbo and a 3" turbo back exhaust with custom down pipe.

I have for sale the manifold back system to make a GT35R turbo work. It will fit any standard fitting manifold.

I have one of Harvey's 2-bolt up-pipes (designed to work with his ported std headers; now sure of exact diameter) - any idea if this would suit the HKS's well? Presumably there's no point in having larger-bore headers if there's an immediate restriction at the up-pipe.

Also, that up-pipe flange looks a bit uneven - what's going on there?

cheers

The HKS headers will bolt straight up to it. Im not 100% because i do not have a standard up pipe to check it against but im shure they are the same ID. The HKS one has an ID of 45mm if you want to meshure yours.

The is nothing wrong with the up pipe flange at all. These headers have been fitted and what you can see is the remains of the gasket. I should have cleaned the flange befor i took the picture but i will wire brush it befor i send it out.
