Question

Thought I'd start in here, then maybe try ICE if no joy.

My Sis has a Y plate Ford Ka (Ka 2 I think - it has aircon).

At the mo it has the std fit Ford radio cassette in the weird none-DIN shape.

She would like to add a CD Changer to it - anyone know of any alternatives to the official ford unit? She asked in Halfords and the PFY said a Sony would work but I'm not 100% convinced.

TIA,

Chris.

Does she really need a changer or does she just want to play cds? the better bet is to change the head unit using a dash adaptor plate from ford £20 I think and put whatever you like in there. For the same price as a ford cd changer you could get a decent head unit and 10 disc changer Hope that helps a little. Sorry I couldn't answer your original question

Chris, you can use a Sony, Kenwood or Alpine AFAIK.

You will need an adaptor though to make it talk to the head unit.

You can get the adaptor here http://www.incar-discount.co.uk Do a search on their site in the online store for 'Ford 5000' (think the 5000 is the cassette head unit).

Out of interest, http://www.incarexpress.co.uk are doing a Sony 6 CD changer with adaptor for 150 quid all in (select Ford in the 'By Fitment' selection box on the right, then 'OE CD changer').

I've been looking at getting a second hand 6 CD changer for my missus puma but can't find one cheap anywhere....so she might be going for the 150 quid deal.

HTH

Steve

Wooo - result guys.

Top information. I'm sure a pint could be provided at some point in the future.

Cheers!

Cool

Try Julian or John at AudioElectrics in Macclesfield, I can't remember their number right now, but I will post it in the morning. They did me an excellent deal on a Sony CD Head Unit, 10 Disc Changer and all the bits to fit my In-Car kit to it. £250 last year.
