TVR.....thoughts?
Wondered how these are for a summer/collectors car.
Never really researched them that much, I know they are British and plain and raw with no aids whatsoever (what I like about it) and can be 50/50 with reliability, but what sports car isn't.
I 'think' I quite fancy one as a summer car mmm unsure.
Affordability wise I quite fancy a tamora or Chimerra. love the t350 but bit steep for a weekend summer car.
What do you car zombies think? Anyone owned one.

The sound when on a open road must feel awesome. I think they are a old mans car but hey I'm getting on a bit now (35).
I'm trying to find a good reason to dismiss it out of my list of next toy.
And I've never seen these cars discussed on here before so thought I find people's opinions

its weirdly my dream car . . . .I think its the sound and the look , but I hear they aren't built well .
There was one on WheelerDealers and it needed a whole new frame , the powder coating came off and it failed mot.

I'm guessing most of them now that are for sale are enthusiast owned so would of think they have been well looked after.

TVRs are awful heaps.
Yes they're fast but also bloody dangerous, badly put together and very unreliable.
If it has to be British, get a Noble. Lotus, Ariel and Caterham are good cars too but quite impractical!

British is not the only option, think I'm going to get a dc5 for a daily or similar and thinking of ideas for a summer/track toy.
If I got a TVR then I wouldn't be able to afford a replacement daily really, just thinking of ideas for now on the next step.
I have a family estate which the wife uses so just thinking of a daily/track/summer car for myself. May just get another mx5 but a turbo one for track toy as they are cheap as chips and then replace my daily.
Edit- may even be tempted with a RA for a track toy if I see a bargain

I would take a cerbera over a chimera anyday, I looked at getting a cerbera a couple of years ago but I could only have scraped together about 10k and decided they would all be sh*tters at that money.
My boss had a chimera for ages and I don't think he had any issues but it was never going to set the world alight with around 260bhp or whatever, then he bought a Tuscan s which was awesome but he never used it, he sold that for a grand more than he paid about 4 years later, he's now bought an aston Martin and it's spent more time on the recovery wagon and back at the garage than in his hands.

Theyr exciting, sound beautiful, turn heads, look amazing. ....but ultimately absolute rubbish! I had a 4.0 Chimaera for 18 months and also has a courtesy Tamora for a week and driven a Cerebra too. Poor quality materials, badly put together, bad design and technology and constantly breaking down. The most irritating thing was that any random part would fail for no reason at anytime, usually when your nowhere near home. You then replace it with a brand new part that then breaks again as the parts are absolute shi Łe!
