Default Volvo 850R "Flying Brick"

Got myself a second car so the Impreza is just for enjoyment instead of doing all the errand driving etc.

Been after a Volvo 850R for a while and finally found this one. I've been very lucky with this one as it's been owned by enthusiasts who have really looked after it. It's wanted for nothing over its last 18 years, there's bills for every little thing and also the original bill of sale for £34k! It also has the 302mm big brake upgrade.

Really happy with it. It'll happily cruise along at some pace and is as comfortable as a sofa.

I had one a couple of years back.
I loved it apart from the fuel bill and the auto box
I had a rica map on it , it was fairly quick for a car that weighs about the same as a small tank

Haha yeah this one is auto but it doesn't seem too bad, it's got a long way to go to beat a French auto box!

It is plenty quick enough but I've only driven it back from Stockport last night, I'll see how the fuel bills stack but it can't be any worse than the Impreza.

Ah right, just with yours having the roof rails removed. A copper mate of mine told me that if you want to spot an unmarked police volvo they are specced the same as marked cars with the roof rails deleted to fit the light bar. So far, in the newer volvos he has been correct.

I'll have a look at the owners forums as I want to keep it in this condition too, it's been so well looked after it'd be a shame to let it fall apart now.

Very tidy!
302mm still isn't very big for brakes on a big car; what were they as standard?!

I think it was 284 standard. 302 is the upgrade. My mate has the brakes off the cross country v70 which are even bigger

Nice car, Volvos should only come in an estate! Was really tempted by a V70 T5 R AWD a couple of years ago, it was silly money for what it was and was in my favorite Volvo colour, just didn't have big enough ***** at the time to take a punt. Looking back I wish I had

Thanks guys, it surprises me how many people still actually have a fondness for the big Volvos, I'm really enjoying it too

8secs to 60 might not be quick to some standards but back in 1996 and in a big ol' 240bhp bus like this it's quick enough.

i had the c70 t5 with about 270bhp,was a great comfy belter of a car.a good mod is an uprated engine mount,it kinda transfers the 5 pot grumble from the engine into the cabin

Is that the stabiliser mount you're on about shreksta? I fitted a powerflex mount to mine and it did make a nice difference, also fitted a simota CAI which sounded the nuts and a genuine Volvo strut brace, this was all on my S70 T5 ex plodder but it's basically the same car lol, I loved mine, its a good solid engine the T5

8 seconds to 60? really?
I had a v40 t4, official figure for that was around 7 seconds, that was basically a t5 engine minus a cylinder and about 50bhp. I would have thought a t5r would be quicker than 8.
As for the fuel, my t4 was worse than our WRX. Main reason why I sold it and got a diesel v50. I wish I hadn't.

Nice car by the way.
