Default Mercedes g wagon

Anyone know anything about these, which ones are worth the money (apart from the amg of course) the reason i ask is ive been offered one extremely cheap, its a f reg in blue, long wheel base, 2.8 petrol.... interior doesnt seem to bad and some of the pannels are ok but its been stood outside for the last 8 years and is pretty dog rough, me and a mate are thinking of getting it and putting on ebay as a sort of barn find and see what it makes, are we wasting time and money or could there be profit to be made?

All thoughts welcome

Gary;-)

All of them are worth a bit money I think but it's subjective to condition, if it needs work then it'll be worth less. Very capable off roader and built like a tank! Have a look at what others are selling for, it'll give you a rough idea of what you should be aiming for but don't expect a massive profit if it needs work as parts aren't cheap.

It is very very rough mate, tbh i think its only worth any money to a breaker, ive had a quick look at other pricing and the excellent condition examples are advertised between 7 and 15k onwards im hoping this particular g wagon could fetch 500 to 1000 pounds but just dont know, apparently 8 years ago the owner drove it to its current location with no faults and its been there ever since...

Its got ****ing green slimy stuff all over it aswell lol infact i think i better buy it quick before it grows legs and fuking walks away lol and il be surprised if theres nowt living in it

Knowing how well G Wagons are built, it might just need a good clean up. Everything may still work, if not just freeing up seized brakes etc

If its rusty, it will be VERY rusty.

The bodyshop up the road had one in a while back that the owner had bought cheaply. They were rebuilding pretty much the entire lower 8 inches of it.

Well il get some up as soon as i get it, like i say its rough mind, im a bit worried about how to get it out of its current parking space as im sure the brakes are gonna be seized on, ive spoke about the whole thing with my pal and were gonna try to get the engine running and un seize the brakes and any other mechanicals and give it a wash when we get it over to his premises.

Pics to follow

That does not look that bad from the pics, but would need to see the underside of it.
Have you got it to turn over or start yet ?
Might be interested in it as a off road toy.

That's really cool. Shame you couldn't have taken some decent larger pictures though. Looks like you'll be making a profit then if you decide to buy it cheap and then sell?

Well guys we've decided to repair the rust panels and replace the foooked ones, gonna renew all brake and fuel lines, restore the fuel tank, rust treat and paint the chassis with stone guard, get all new light lenses and stone guard the bumpers and retrim the interior.
We feel it will fetch a lot more money in that state and know for definite it will go back on the road and save an iconic vehicle from the scrap pile.

il get sum pics up as we go if anyones interested.

The second gear stick will engage low ratio

The levers sound interesting, could be diff lock selectors

You know when the diff Locks engage coz the steering gets very heavy and rear wheels will skip
