Default DMS remap

Had my AMG remapped by DMS Automotive today and what a professional outfit they are. The guy drove up to Manchester from Surrey and we spent a couple of hours mapping and testing the car.

The results are astonishing. It was quick before, but it is mental quick now with a supercharger pulley upgrade and the map!

If any of you have German cars out there and fancy releasing some horses as well as making them smoother, more driveable (and more economic in some cases) DMS are the people to contact!

Well we're guessing a bit at the numbers as we didn't have a dyno to hand, but based on the fact that my car is now the same as one they mapped at their place about a month ago except for an airbox mod and that made 623bhp on their dyno we suspect mine is nudging 600bhp and 620 lb/ft of torque.

To be honest though it's more the driveability now that is better, it's smoother and the gear changes are quicker. Yes it is a crazy amount of power, but why not? It's a fun car for the weekends so not like it is going to be doing the daily commute!

For some reason, I thought you had a CL?!

That must be violently nippy. And I bet it sounds good too?!
Might be a thirsty though...

You're right I dd have a CL, but got offered a 2005 SL55 at a price too good to pass up and it is a bit nicer shape wise etc.

Yes got a nice shiny new exhaust on it with X pipe in the middle so sounds nice, but still not overly noisy.

MPG round town is.... well let's not talk about that

I imagine double figures is a good result?

Sounds like a monster. Enjoy it Chris.

The prices on these are very keen but I'd be scared of running costs and have two kids to put somewhere. Maybe one day...!

To be honest on a motorway run you will see 26/27 mpg, round town you will see 14/15 mpg so overall is about 20 which is not that far off most Scoobs. The problem is the overall running costs.... I just couldn't run one as a day to day car. Servicing is stupid money so once a year is enough!

Their Achilles heel are the boot seals leaking and screwing the roof pump and the ABC suspension system failing. The former of those on mine is fixed.... all new seals, the latter is a ticking time bomb LOL!

That said it is a lovely place to be and the orginal bill of sale for my car was £92K, I paid £19K for it. Not many other cars offer that sort of performance, build and luxury for that money. It's also of course a convertible too not that I am that fussed about that but my partner likes it!
