Looking for reliable car for 2k to carry Kids
I am looking for a car that my wife can ferry our two youngs kids around in.
It needs to be reliable and look have decent. 4 doors and Diesel would be great but would look at petrols.
Any Help would be great.
Thank you

£2K will get you a 2004/2005 diesel. Bullet proof but a bit dull!
I was looking for a Focus estate and chanced upon a V40 1.8 petrol 2003, 100K, FSH.... £1K Best £1K I have ever spent. Done 10K in the last 9 months, hasn't missed a beat. Would never have even looked at one if I hadn't seen one next to the Focus I was looking at (which was a bag of crap btw like most Focuses of that age).
I should add that Focuses are good cars, but when they get to about 10 years old they seem to be massively neglected by their owners. 10 year old Volvos nearly always have FSH and 1 or 2 owners, Equivalent Focuses seem to have about 5 owners and the service book is usualy not even present let alone stamped up!

Vectors cdti's are good cars I had one before my Scooby
Had it remapped to 175bhp and it was quick for an estate lol
Still got 60mpg as well
Averaged 42
Check the swirl flaps on the inlet though as it can turn out to be an expensive fix if done right

I have had 1 s40, 2 v40's and now have a v50 (2005) which is, for all intents and purpose a focus estate in drag. The older model s/v40 is a more reliable car (pretty bombproof although vvt pulleys can go, listen for rattle).
Don't bother with diesel unless your mileage warrants it.
Tbh I wish I kept my last v40 instead of buying the v50, which, although fairly old was low mileage and in very good condition from a main dealer, but needed over a grands worth of warranty work done in the first month.
In comparison, the v40 that I paid £800 for needed nothing in the 2 and half years I owned it, and it was the top of range, fully loaded, and fairly rapid T4 CD. Best £800 I ever spent too.

This. Although you will struggle to get a decent 04 for 2k and an 05, well that's a different car entirely.

My 2003 V40 was serviced today..... happy to report that despite a good inspection nothing at all was found wanting. 110K and counting. Pretty impressed really!
