Default Audi S4 (B5)

Anyone on here had or have a B5 S4?

It's something I've looked into a couple of times, then always double backed on myself reading the usual woes of blown turbos, sensor problems, etc - but I still fancy one!

So other than the reliability issues, how do they compare to a newage Impreza?

I know they can be made very fast in a straightline, but how do they compare around the corners? People say they understeer as standard and feel lardy - much worse than a std Newage WRX?

Look nicer inside, better specced, etc but do they feel their age now?

TBh, I had an 855 T5 and 855R a few years back and absolutely loved them, comfy, fast and spacious whilst looking anonymous!!! Similar vibe to an S4, but I'd imagine the S4 is better still?

Not an S4 but I have this

No issues yet but I've only had it a while and bought one with spot on history.
As for comparison with a Subaru, depends on which model but broadly speaking:

Heavy nosed, like a Subaru.
Standard car understeers, like a Subaru.
Likes a drink, like a Subaru.
Makes 450 with an exhaust and map, not like a Subaru.
Has a quality interior, not like a Subaru.

Get yourself on audisrs and buy wisely

My old man had one years ago. Twin Turbo V6.

Amazing Torque from little revs. Very fast in it's day.

Bad points.
Sloppy Gear change, numb steering, brick hard seats (in Leather anyway) and over servo'd brakes.

I had one

Great straightline speed.
They also handle mods better than the RS4 (B5)
Rock hard seats - I loved them
Fab stereo if you get the Bose

Downsides? BORING to drive.
Turbo oil lines are fragile, which can lead to BIG bills if the turbos go.

Get one MRC'd when buying.

Would I have another? Probably might entertain a B7 RS4 but not an S4.
