As I can't park on site for work I have to wander through a technology park car park for a couple of major tech firms and I get to see a lot of new company cars. One thing has struck me lately is that with most of the mainstream newer car design hatchbacks, I find I generally prefer the old outgoing model.

Couple of examples, the new Ford Focus....I just think it looks too soft, the older car model both mk1 and mk2 looked sharper and more purposeful. The new Civic rear bar looks even weirder like its been stuck on by someone for a Meccano project.

Are car deisgners losing the plot? I think the new Astra doesn't look too bad but apart from that I'm struggling to think of any other middle of the road hatch that I would be happy with the look of.
