What do you reckon ?

We are of to Germany soon to drive the public toll road again !! This time flying and hiring a car, out of the Audi TT, 2 wheel drive 180bhp or the Merc SLK 185bhp what would you choose. The Merc has significantly more torque so is my first choice.

Your choice, please help !!!

SLK, unless it was the 4WD 225bhp TT. Where are you hiring them from (and what's the excess)?

If it's the 3.2SLK, sorry i dont know the actual output, then i would take that, seriously cumfy, and plenty quick enough.

I tink the TT might feel like a Scoob wanabe where as the Merc is a completely different driving experiance, and not as soft as you might have thought !!

I'm sure you wont end up too disapointed any which way you end up going !

Cool

I wouldn't touch even a 225TT with a barge pole, leaving the CLK.

if i where you i would check with the old bill before MAKING YOUR MIND UP !
they will tell you that "IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO DRIVE A MERCEDES SLK UNLESS YOU ARE FEMALE OR ARE A HOMOSEXUAL HAIRDRESSER"
as far as i am concerned there is no decision to make !!
one has 4 wheels and an engine, the other is an slk YEEUUCH!

Hahaha, my hairdresser has a TT 225bhp!

I'd go for the SLK - completely different car.

Cool

SLK isn't necessarily an Auto as the 6 speed manual has been available for nearly 2 years now.

Michelle: Couldn't recommend the CLK to anyone - borrrrrrring! Test drove a CLK320 and it was slow, tyre-noisy, and v. uninvolving. Got back into my 406 and preferred that!

Thanks chaps and Michelle

Its a 230 Kompressor SLK or a TT 2wd 180 bhp.... both at approx 50 a day to hire in Germany. I think the SLK may be more fun...... Both good cars, and thats coming from a 300bhp Impreza driver !!! Well I would happily buy the other half one if I could afford it !

Depends if you plan to off-road it. I gather "cough" that the TT ain't that good in/on gravel!

I dunno, you have 2 guys at your disposal who can give you first hand knowledge of one of those sheds round the ring, and you diss us. LOL

Dont get the TT, it's ****! The only good thing to say about it is it has fantastic brakes. It understeers like a pig and never felt totaly predictable to me.

The worst thing about it is it has a nasty tendency to snap oversteer with no warning which can result in this! LOL

thanks to ben for taking this moment and capturing it for all the world to see.
