get you name on the list just in case you cant get one else where then just keep your eyes peeled for the car supermarkets or autotrader/national newspapers for people selling places in the que or delivered cars.
expect to pay if you want to jump the que.
Or keep a look out on Mini2.com

Just to let you know, unfortunately she is only able to order 1 a year, which does have a waiting list as well albeit not quite that long..
And as we are soon to be the proud owners of a Black Mini Cooper with pink ( yup her choice - fairly unique ) then I cannot help right now !
Sorry,
Paul

We have a new BMW X5 on order from Germany, and last month I also enquired about a new Cooper S for myself. Expected delivery was August/September, although this was some weeks ago. There are savings to be made.
Call David Leaman on 052 31 70 05 79. The dealership is called Lippe3 BMW.

I enquired at my local (new) dealer at the weekend and I was also told late December.
He did have a very very tasty Cooper in red, 17" alloys, full bodykit - in total £16k - ready to go.

Try some other dealers. All got 5 prespec cars. There appear to be a number of them around, most people on the waiting list wanting their own spec. I know of three guys that ordered in the last three days for delivery next month.

No waiting list on my Cooper S - but then it was built in 1968!
Will be very interested to see how the new compares to the old, if indeed they do compare at all. Looks like the Beemer version is going to be a rocket. And it will have brakes too i've heard, something i'm not familiar with on mine...

As chins said, dealers have got cars in for the launch date (June 5th or so!). The guy next to me at work has a friend who works for the local dealer who offered him one 2 days ago which he's gone for. The only problem is they're pre-speced (pretty highly too!) and list for this one is £17,500 which is a hell of a lot of money for a Mini IMHO!
