14k for an estate.

14k for an estate.
Evening all,
So it's come time to get a 2nd car as I really just want to use the Rex for a weekend blast now. The purchase will be half and half with my missus so naturally she has a say it what it is
What she wants for it;
Great MPG, so diesel. Although a good petrol turbo isn't out the question.
Must be an estate
Year 2009 to recent
Below 80k miles.
Has some "go"
What I want;
Same as above plus,
Sporty looks/ handling
Comfortable
We have been looking at the Audi A4 Avants with the s-line and 170 engine but can't think of much more that might tick all the boxes?

Yep. for 14k you will get a 1 -2 year old Octavia vRS still under warranty.
200bhp for the petrol version, 35-40mpg and big enough for most things.
They also look quite smart too.

Yeah vRS might be a good shout, just need to get over the mindset that its a skoda, all be it owned by VW.
I actually like the Merc C class, not sure if the budget would stretch to an AMG pack on one though?? Pain in the **** trying to balance Eco with sportiness!

My daily driver is a 59 plate vRS. It's the petrol model and can do over 40mpg on a run. It's got a ridiculous boot and is lovely inside. Far more comfortable than my Sti and with a stage 1 revo remap will have about 255bhp.
Tracked mine both standard and with suspension upgrades, handles really well and is easily the best all round car I've owned. I like the fact it's a skoda. Feel smug when I see those Golf Gti and A4 s-line owners, as I know I have the same car for massively less money.

prob not your thing but I bought my wife this exact one.
£445 a month Interest free. Lifetime warranty. If you get the Bi Turbo Diesel its 195BHP
I actually like driving it over the scoob, Ok its not as fast, bot space and practicality is great, Loads room massive boot, 7 seater, and looks great ( that model )

My mate is selling his VRs Octavia Estate. It's a Limited Edition dark grey metallic with numbered plate, leather and lots of toys. You need to speak to him? And diesel.

V50/V70 R-Design with the D5 engine.
Sharp looking cars and the engine is fantastic... reliable, quite powerful and extremely good on fuel.
Cheers,
Grant

I'd almost agree but have heard of electrical nightmares for the V50. A mate sold his pronto. They look great though and go very well with that engine.

If your not going for Skoda or BMW then just go with the Audi.
I've got a B7 A4 170 and it hasn't been trouble free I have to admit but its a great car - it isn't as well built as a BMW though.
I hired an Insignia SRI diesel touring and that was a really good car. Better overall than my B7 but not as well built - felt a bit cheap in places.

Well not been on here in a good while left when i bought the 530d, sold this because the boot want big enough for my RC helis so bought a X5 3.0i sport. Plenty big enough now and evan more toys then the 530d sport. Does a few MPG less then the scoob i had, scoob did 21 this does 18. But now i'm selling it and looking at scoobs again why? well had the classic for almost 6 yrs and this X5 as cost more in repairs in 18 months, then the scoob did in 6yrs. My advise would be if you have to go BM get a good warranty, because you will need it.

My 335d (bought at 16k miles, 2 years old) and my inlaws X5 3.0d (same age, bought new, 65k miles) have had the sum total of NO problems. We look after them but that's not bad going for pretty rapid, comfortable cars.
In fact my 335d, despite being the most powerful car I've had, has probably cost the least to run of any car I've had - the only largeish cost is rear tyres!
