Audi S4 (current model)
A rather kind mate let me have a drive of his 2011 S4 saloon yesterday; just had a shortish blast up a few B roads.
Definitely rapid and the engine sounds good - nice throttle response too. In dynamic mode the chassis felt tight and planted and the 60/40 4WD gives just enough rear bias to make it lively. Brakes were strong and it felt pretty chuckable but the steering, although okay, was a bit of a let down as usual with Audis.
Interior looks nice but some of the plastics seemed a little bit cheap, especialy on the doors. Seats again look good but not as comfy or supportive as expected.
The DSG box (or some semi auto thing) was quick to change and blips nicely on downshifts.
Definitely a decent, competent car that's not far off the RS4 for pace but a lot more subtle. Just needs slightly better steering and better quality materials inside.
It has made me realise that I do need another petrol soon. Competent as the 335d is, there's just not that throttle response or rev range. I prefer the BMs' chassis and steering though and I'm definitely a big fan of a decent RWD set up.

Much as I'd love to, I need a hatch or estate boot for the dog and other gubbins. So it's hatches or estates only. The range would also anger me.
