As if by magic...
After the rather long thread the other day, this has popped up on PH today...
http://www.pistonheads.com/news/defa...?storyId=26720
It's looks aren't for me at all, but the weight thing makes it a very interesting idea.

That looks like a wonderful car.
1000kg and no a/c, radio, but under £30k - yes please, even for a woman like me!

BMW did an M3 GT and that was well over £100k. Only had 30bhp extra.
TTRS is £50k so they are jumping on the band wagon and it's gonna be six figures I bet for the nuggets that decide to buy it.

Nice, but is it worth it over the existing 5-pot TT-RS? Personally I'd rather have that running gear in a VW Golf, or Audi short wheelbase (3 door) S3 (not a sportback) with a full manual transmission (not DSG - can't stand them).
I looked at a MKII TT 3.2 (last of the iconic VR6s ) to replace my aging R32, but one look in the boot put me off, its simply not big enough for me (can't fit my lawn mowers in it, like I can with the Golf ).

This could be quite an epic car given the numbers that the "standard" TTRS is managing. Not really my cup of tea but if the price wasn't too daft, it could be appealing.
Too few cars are actually made lighter and too many cars get their performance through massive power and torque rather than light weight. An M3 as an example is ludicrously heavy and full of nonsense tech that no one needs - and BMW owners often spout more waffle about "what nav they have, what 8 way electric seats they prefer" rather than the chassis, the engine and the weight.
Audi, Merc and BMW are all as guilty as each other. Epic engines for sure but all too flaming heavy.

LOL, I know what you mean....I just found out our BMW has built in internet access FFS!...internet...in a car?
Yet it has no web browser. So its pretty useless....although I can unlock the car and turn on the heater with my phone (will have to try that out when its iced up )

Our Alpina has Internet access - works very well.
Even sends me pictures of my destination when using the nav. Brilliant.
I was 15 mins early picking my daughter up from school so read a few pages of Pistonheads with it.
Screens a bit small though.

So has almost any smartphone... ;-)
TBH I do find the system in the camper useful (proper satnav, Bluetooth, DVD player, etc, etc) but still prefer a 3 Series without I-can't-drive

New Aud RS4 Avant;
You want floor mats? That will be £380
You want a set of winter alloys and tyres? That will be £3,600 lol!
If they produce this TT GT the pricing will be just a joke.
