Wrong forum mate. You'll only get Subaru based answers on here.
Id go for legacy or forester!

Personally I'm looking at a BMW 535d Tourer (E60) at the weekend but I'm not sure that's what you are after. For me it's a good blend of performance, comfort, and not too bad on economy (~40mpg if not pushed too hard)

Very happy with my Mk iv Diesel Legacy, remapped by Litchfields. It may be slower than a 535d, but much more secure in the ice and snow, with winter tyres; or a twin scroll Jdm GTB Legacy instead !

Ford Focus estate. Big boot, good handling. Petrol less likely to throw up expensive hissy fits.

There's a bloke round the corner from me selling a Toyota tercel 4x4 for £20 !
4 months mot, 4 months tax!
It is knackered, but £20, won't get a cheaper car than that

insignias are slow and built cheaply, you'll regret buying it once the novelty wears off.

focus/mondeo estate are both good cars if you need loads of space the mondeo is bloody massive and a v good motorway car with fairly good handling given the choice between the 1.8tdci or the 2.0 tdci the 1.8 is more relable (i work for a ford retailer)
