Y plate Toyota Celica.....tempted
Just driving to work today and noticed a black Y plate Celica on a local garage forecourt for £1995..
I always fancied a Carlos Sainz Celica Turbo and had a MR2 for 13 years which was great fun... I guess they have a 1.8 VVT engine, do they have any get up and go ?

1.8 engine comes in two versions - 140bhp and 190 bhp, which one is it?
We have an MR2 with the 140bhp engine. It only weights 900kgs and goes really well and returns 40+mpg all day, every day.

I had one for a few years before the scoob i also work at a toyota/nissan dealer. i had the 140bhp version as the 190 t-sport has to rev to 6200rpm before the varible valve lift kicks in so not much different as the 140 on normal driving.
The only prob with the 140 is that some had a design fault with piston scraper rings causing them to burn oil, alot had engines changed under warranty as there was a warrenty extension for this fault.
on the upside it did handle very well.
hope it helps

One of my mates mrs has the sport, quite rare apparently,no idea what bhp he can't drive for toffee, so i was a tad afraid, but quite unimpressed, i never got to drive it, but in his ham fisted hands it didn't seem like anything special, i do like the looks, if it was rear wheel drive, there would be a t sport sat on my drive, take it for a spin may be good with someone that can drive.
