Bye bye RS4... Hello M3
After nearly 3 years in my beloved RS4 i decided to trade in for a brand new M3. I know i will probably get split opinions here but it's my choice. However I respect your views - just don't shoot me too much
The new car is one of 30 finished in santorini blue. DCT box, competition pack, satin finish wheels, smoked tailpipes, grill and window surrounds. Shes quite a stunner and i cant wait to get in and drive. Just hope it doesnt snow tomorrow as i'm due to pick it up at lunch.
Will load some piccys up when the weather turns nice again..

Nice one Nick. I've just swapped my 335i for a mineral white e92 M3 dct. Absolutely awesome. I saw a lovely blue one when I picked mine up in Edinburgh but I think it was a monte Carlo.

I've always wanted an rs4 and my personal preference would be to buy one over the m3, but you have obviously been fortunate enough to own one for a few years so fair play to you.
Would be good to see pics of both.

Jimpreza is the the one you saw at Eastern BMW by any chance? If so that's one of the other 29 and is forsale on pistonheads.. I did go for a mineral white but it sold last week. They look really great with the additional carbon spoilers on!
Thanks for the nice comments. Fingers crossed for weather tomorrow

Only ditching the RS because i've had it 3yrs and I always swap over by then. RS is brilliant and would recommend you try one after the R32.
The one I'm buying isn't from Eastern, but is exactly the same model and spec etc.

Spider - Mine is virtually the same inside as my 335 except when you look out the windscreen and see the lovely power bulge . My 335i was standard but I still couldn't believe how much harder the m3 pulls when the revs rise. The dct box blips on downshifts and sounds lovely. The engine seems much more responsive and doesn't run out o puff towards the end o the rev range. I've only done 400 miles but yesterday I floored it coming off a roundabout and you could feel the diff pulling you around. It also doesn't have the awful run flats. When I start the M3 up it feels special where the 335 didn't. You might have a different opinion though as yours is highly modded. Let me know how you get on if you do have a drive.

Congrats on your new purchase. You can't really argue with any of these sorts of cars, they have many attributes.
My only criticism of this car is that the steering seemed over assisted/too light.
The gearbox is a peach though
Enjoy

Congrats on a good car, anyway.

yes I agree , the gearbox is amazing
I'm liking the Santorini blue , they have one in Cardiff BMW but with silver wheels , I think it looks better with black wheels , I have an even rarer colour , Estoril blue , but I had to have it painted to get that , buts its such a good job you cannot tell its been repainted

Yes. I went to look at the one at Tom Hartley last Friday but someone was already in the process of sorting finance. Wish he'd told me on the phone before I drove over though.. Oh well, was only 20 miles and was worth the trip just to drool over his other stock too!

That GTS they have - look good?
With regards to the Santorini.... You'll get loads of people telling you how good it looks, but that they wouldn't dare spec it!

Wow, that looks a stunning car mate. Great choice. I love that colour too. Really enjoyed watching Clarkson in the Top Gear re-run in the 1 Series M. Awesome!

Sounds sweet. I wasn’t too sure on them when they first came out as fairly subtle. But they have really grown on me and I do love the power bulge on the bonnet. Had 3 laps around Thruxton with Tiff Needell and was mightily impressed.
Seen a few E90 M3’s around recently and they don’t look quite right at the rear but the E92 is spot on. Some chap pulled up at the opposite pump to me in local shell garage a few weeks back in a white E92 M3. No idea what exhaust he had but he blipped it just as he pulled up and damn it was loud. Couldn’t help but laugh when he got out though as some Italian looking pro footballer type wearing what can only be described as a designer body warmer.

the best sounding aftermarket exhaust is the one made by the yanks (RPI)...their Gt system for the E9x M3 will blow the Eisenmann and Akrapovic miles away.
Quailty is on par aswell as been slightly cheaper !
having said that the Akrapovic is the best that you can buy for the M3 , just not the best sounding one

Fantastic looking car so enjoy.Going from the RS4 to an M3,I'd be interested in how you compare the total experience.
I'm sorely tempted by an RS4 avant but am put off by the tales of them being uninvolving and a bit (dare I say it) boring to drive.
From someone who would be speaking from experience,I'd be interested in your opinion...
By the way,be careful where you park, thefts of bmw's is at an epidemic level.

Nice looking M3s in blue, refreshing to see them back in that colour. I think the Estoril Blue one has the edge though. Why didnt BMW spec that colour??
