Advice required on whether to break my wifes dead car or sell as scrap
Just wondering what to do with my wifes Punto after the selecta gear box died, £2K to replace on a car worth 1200 tops.
A Tidy 02 with 51K on the clock, very clean interior etc.
So is it worth being a breaking project, I've never contemplated it before, is e-bay the best place to sell ?
Or would it be easier to just sell it as it is for scrap
Really could have done without this

I would stick it on eBay with the problem described and sell it that way. You will probably get more than scrap.
The problem is if you start breaking it, how to get rid of what's left when all the decent stuff is gone.

Scrap value will barely touch 200 quid, if you're lucky. So don't consider that.
Get a secondhand gearbox and have a go yourself. Compared to a subaru gearbox, you could literally lift it with your *****.
Not sure what year a selecta is, it sounds like an auto too, but my dad recenlty broke a 1.4 2002 model, so has a gearbox lying around.
