Default smokey remapped astravan

i'm after some advice i'v gone and got a year old astravan sportive diesel se it’s the limited edition VXS model by Seward Van Centre in Dorset it's been remapped to 200bhp i think it's decat not 100% on that.
it seems to be smoking the most when i put my foot down say in 3rd once the boost is up and im going trough the gears i'v asked a few people and they seem to think is quite normal for the power it's putting out but i'm unsure
i'v been to see a guy about putting it on the rollers and he seem's to think it could cost the best part of £600 once he's looked at it poss wipe the ecu and start over.
i hope some of you can help me out with this.

Sounds normal for a powerful diesel to be honest fella.

As soon as it gets onto the boost the ecu is going to start pouring more fuel into the engine and naturally enough it will chuck black smoke out of the back. If you watch any diesel where the driver buries his foot, more black smoke appears.

Sounds normal to me and I would not be too keen to throw £600 at it just because of that.

Perfectly normal. Infact diesel engines in standard form are held back as manufacturers have to adhere to a specific smoke limit. Look at some of these tractor pulling machines and see how much they smoke!

My old TD Nova used to smoke something rotten when I booted it, was absolutely fine though. I wouldn't be worried unless it was running like a dog, burning lots of oil or had fuel consumption worse than a Subaru

I've had my t30 transporter remapped & it smokes a lot when i have a spirited start at the traffic lights sometimes, it's perfectly normal, don't worry about it.

Cleaning or disconnecting the egr valve will help, also make sure your air filter is nice and clean, but yeah remapped diesels do like to fire out the black stuff for sure!
