Default Audi TTRS

Anyone been in one that's been mapped? I was out in one at the weekend. It was running circa 400hp. To be honest it didn't feel much faster than my standard STi. OK I can't lie and say it was slow, but I wouldn't have guessed it was running 400, perhaps the standard 330.

Chap that owns it reckons it can run 100 in the 10's? He has a mate who has a bit more done to his and it's down in the 8's? I seriously doubt it though........

Hmmm, maybe was being a little or the person who done the map was being a little generous with their bhp figure. However Audi being such a refined car can hide the feeling of speed fairly easily.

Well the figures do check out as lots of the TT guys have had them mapped by reputable tuners (APS, MRC etc) As you say though Audis are solid and can mask speed. I guess as well being heavy that 400hp is getting lost.

The standard US one is 380, my boss has ordered one
The figures suggest GTR territory rather than Scooby.

Will be here the end of August, I'll report back when it's run in

Cheers

I am sure that someone will be along shortly to tell us how even a mildly tweaked TTRS is actually faster than light.

Just a shame that due to rectilinear propagation, light goes around corners about as well as a TTRS does

^^ LOL. There was a "faster than light" version at this years 30-130 day. Went like the clappers! Apparently on the day someone did ask the owner if it was the 1.8 version

TX.

PS

It allegedly had 400hp albeit was almost as fast as a chap with a definite 540hp Hawkeye ... methinks his 400hp was on the low side.

have a look on gtr.co.uk....there's a 26 odd page thread from last week, and then pop over to TT forum search for "TTRS Inadequate" and there's probably another 20 odd pager there.....all with our very own Mitchy/Leo posting all the data you could possibly wish for.....

I got bored reading the thread on the TT forum Although thinking about my original post I'm half asleep and was probably thinking he was on about 1/4 mile times lol!!!

So what is the general consensus with the TTRS then? There seems to be a few people who think a mapped one will keep up with a GTR??

335bhp as standard, 13 secs for 1/4 mile

1494kgs....

400bhp TTRS should only see 12.5 secs on the 1/4 according to torquecars bhp 1/4 mile calculator.

If i remember the discussion was a mapped TTRS was as quick if not quicker than a Stock GTR from 30-130....but then again so is the top gear XJS full of NOS .... doesn't make it a better car

Never understood the TTRS myself. Nice car, but just seems like a tank for its size and a Boxster S would have to be the way to go. IMHO.

Still a TT at the end of the day.

Probably very front heavy too.

Gotta love this 'numbers' obsession; 30 - 130, 1/4 mile times etc. Does nobody drive these things in anything but a straight line?

Its the only new small/fast VAG I'll consider now as its the only real alternative to an R32 (VW replaced it with a GTi with AWD and the boost wound up ) or those wanting a manual 3door RS3 (which doesn't exist - auto+avant only )

My mates is remapped to 390bhp and as said above just the size and quietness hides the sense of speed. Same as the AMG Mercs, feels like your doing 50mph and then you look at the speedo and your well in to 3 figures and **** yourself

So where is Leo-RS when you need some entertainment.

I seem to remember he was gloating his stock TTRS was going to leave my GT3 for dead, for less than half the money and near zero depreciation.

I also hear that chipping them really improves the interior.

In fact he's getting his new TTRS DSG chipped this week if i remember the GTR.co.uk thread correctly....we're all to be left in his wake ....he'll be sub 3sec to 60 and 0-100 in 5

Oh I thought this was a serious question not troll bait.

Ah well,

Would have been interesting, as the TTRS will be replacing a Boxster S.

I feel like I've made the wrong choice....

Had a (yet another!) look at the TTRS but in the end just couldn't bring myself to have one.

So I've opted for the Boxster Spyder.

Who really gives a $hit if it doesn't get to 100 mph in 5,6,7 secs...?
I don't.

Dan - don't fancy another Boxster then? Or a 911 of some flavour?

Zip106:
It's my boss's car, he's had quite a lot of out of warranty problems with the Boxster S. Still enjoying it...but he had a TT before upgrading to an SLK 55 AMG then the Boxster S, something about the TT that draws him back.

Don't think I could get one (I picked up a 2008 M3 last week so not an option ), but I'd be willing to test it

The noise of the TTRS might be enough to tempt some...

Cheers

I think the TTRS is a nice car. No denying it's a quick car either. And having one chipped would obviously make it quicker too. GT-R quick? Doubt it.

2 Problems with the TT.
1) Image. As people say (including myself) it's a Hairdressers car. Although the interior is a very very nice place to be.
2) Price. £50k+ for a TT? You're having a Jiraffe....

There are far more fun/rewarding cars out there for a lot less money, that, maybe not quite as quick as the TTRS, but not far short. The Nissan 370Z for instance.

theres a lad on seatcupra.net im guessing his was the one on the 30-130. He got good results. he has ploughed a wad of cash into it though. its about 420bhp 0-60 in 3.8 something like that.
A 270z would be nowhere near one imo, but a stage 2 rs would be nowhere near a gtr.

I'd rather a car with less HP and that's more fun to drive than one with mega HP that won't/can't be used on our roads.
I actually had much more fun in my Exige than in my 996tt X50 that had 210+ hp more.

Why is everyone fixated on big HP and straight line speed?
