Audi RS4

Guys
Has anybody come accross one of these!
I was in me mates Escort Cos over the weekend when we came up behind one.
My mates Cos has the usual 330 conversion and is quick.
This Audi passed a speed camera at 50mph with us directly behind it and boy did it shift when he put his toe down.
My mate was in 4th gear and by the time he changed down this Audi was heading for the horizon!
It got caught in a slight bit of traffic and we came up behind it again with a speed camera and empty road ahead.
As the Audi passed the speed camera he floored it and started to go.
My mate floored the Cossie about a second later this time in 3rd gear which by this time the Audi was about 75 yards ahead.
It took us the whole of 3rd gear and most of 4th to close the gap before we got caught in traffic again.
We were really shocked as to how fast they are.
So if anybody goes up against one in a straight line they are bl**dy quick.
I knew they were quick but didn`t realise they were that quick.
Regards
Biff

They are VERY QUICK , through the gears acceleration is awesome, but bear in mind they are also heavy, I think there's a lot of people in the know, that regard the RS4's engine as one of the best on the road today, its good for upto 500bhp, I must admit I certainly enjoyed it, a simple MTM re-chip takes a stock one to over 420bhp.
They are exceptional performance cars, but like most high end performance cars they have their faults, shame really, cause if they were fault free, I'd still have mine
Have a look under members gallery at owners previous cars thread and you'll see a nice azure blue one

I recently sold my P1 to buy a 420bhp RS4 and is the best thing I have ever done, build quality isn't comparable and the performance is out of this world....

Couple of threads about this recently. Can't wait for the RS6 to appear...
Main problem with them is that the wheels buckle remarkably easily (I think it's the wheels), and Audi claim this is a crumple zone to stop the suspension bending. Owners think that's a crock o' shyte and Audi made a ****-up. Correct me if I'm wrong.
I wondered about one as they are so brutal, but I'm more into chuckability than acceleration, and I can buy two and a half scoobs for the money.

Brendan, you're on the right lines...
Although Audi categorically say that it has nothing to do with the suspension, most owners are very sceptical to this though, the official line is, the wheels are made of a softer grade alloy that will bend on impact to inform the driver that the sidewall of the very low profile tyres may have been damaged...(which I think, and many others think is just total b**s**t...), by all accounts it will notify the driver of this safety feature via a shuddering of the steering wheel....
Now, this is fine for the lovely german auobahns, but not for the terrible english potholed roads. For me it meant constant 50mile round trips to the dealer for wheel checks... this lasted for 9 months with no solution, and I'd had enough, as I've said before, when you know about this so called *safety feature*, you never drive the car to its full potential, in fear of bending a wheel, some owners have had over 20 new wheels.
I believe Audi are agreeing on harder replacement wheels at the moment, on condition of signing disclaimers, very dodgy to me...
Bottom line, I do miss my car, I've now waited nearly 3 months for a PPP for my sti7, and potentially still have another couple to wait, very frustrating....
I think the tank was 60ltr, and I use to get somewhere in the region of 23-24mpg on a good motorway run, down to anything like 15mpg around town.

Really loved our P1 and it made me smile - really really love our RS4. It does approx. 20 mpg around town but have not taken it on a long journey yet so can't answer that one. We had a Subaru Legacy Auto and the RS4 is not as thirsty as that was.
