Default Mazda3 mps

Been looking at these on 08 plate onwards ( not new shape)

Just wondering if any one has had one or know someone who has???
I know they are easy to get 300bhp and alot of torque to go with it but can it handle it??

Also they look well equipped etc with all the toys

Basically any info on them would be great
Thanks

I think they are much better than given credit for - so I've read anyway. There are two types, one that looks fairly normal and one with a body kit.
Pretty sure that they have a LSD as standard so they may be powerful but (depending on your school of thought) can :-

a) put the power down due to the LSD

or

b) buck and try to dump you into a hedge on every bump and crest.

One of the lads who came up from down 'Sarf had one on a whizz round the Welsh Valleys a few weeks ago. It pretty much held it's own but he said when it's damp it's a real handful.

Had a new shape and an old shape before going back to an STI, nice cars a bit bland really but that helps catch most folk out , there is a good site at mpsowners.co.uk with some friendly folk.

Over 300bhp will cost you though and trying to find a good mapper will prove difficult as not many people know much about the cars really. With that sort of power it does struggle to put the power down in the wet. If you are upgrading one look at fuel pump internals as it sometimes struggles to keep up at WOT especially from low revs.

What ever you do stay clear of a company called Turbopacs

Good car though the MK1 comes in an Aero and non Aero model.

These were mine.

One in my village and i always find myself looking at it everyday. Nice looking cars but i always think putting power through a fwd system is very limiting

I've been seeing the later one lately, and like the look of it. Must admit, thought it was a hatchback impreza at first.

I thought all MPS's were AWD, or is that just the 6?

From what I recall from EVO mag of the MK1...

Mazda 3 MPS

Mazda 3 MPS Aero

No nowt about the MK2 but it looks a bit like the child of an STI and a Nissan GTIR.

I had a 6MPS for a while, its thirst for super unleaded was a little unhealthy. I found it a good car in many respects, discreet, comfy, quick, reliable and practical... a rare combination, but it didn't excel at anything and was a ultimately a little bland to drive. It's a great tool but you'll never lust after it.

Ive got a mk1 aero at present. Its very well equipped with all the toys and benefits from a lsd as standard. Rear oem engine mounts are useless and an upgraded one makes the world of difference. In standard form it would outrun my hawkeye sti while rolling but not from standstill. Mapping wise as shurm has said very few tuners though ecutek have cracked it so hopefully more will appear and the mk1 is easier to tune than the mk11 as the ecu was adjusted to meet the emmissions. The tax is a pain at £400 odd quid a year but its cheaper to insure than my old sti so swings and roundabouts. I enjoy driving mine, no one really knows what it is so catches plenty of people out

Aero pack has different wing mirrors, larger rear spoiler and uprated eibach springs with a lower ride height

The white is nice, and the white ones have the updated interior with piano black inserts, and seat fabrics. Lots of info and pics on the owners club

I have a red mk1 aero and love it, ive got hypertech map and SRI on it and it goes nicely, the 60-100mph time is around 6 secs dead now and it can handle the power spot on i had a play with an STI the other week and once we were rolling he didnt stand a chance

im getting around 29mpg atm thats traveling through a busy sheffield daily it will see 38-40mpg plodding down the m1, people moan about the tax but for the price you can pick them up and the spec you actuall get then another 100 quid or so a year doesn't put me off

little vid of mine not the quickest of things but not to shabby

Arent you the clever one. Doing nearly 140mph 'one handed' and holding a camera with the other.

Hope to **** you did that on a private runway or something but unlikely! Bellend!!

Your so angry, if it makes you feel better it was run on a non public road yes ( im not one for posting illegal videos on youtube )

I never stated i was clever just a mere test of how the car goes now, i always drive one handed although obviously not at this speed on the road

So calm down with the bellend comments untill you actually know me

P.S are you the STi driver
