Default Removing a dpf on a zafira

Wife has a 1.9ctdi zafira and as you all know diesels are a ball ache if you potter about, the cars fine and she doesn't really potter but that being said I see companies online that do a dpf removel and map the engine to remove the errors etc once it's gone

Is this a good way to go or will it shaft the engine

My view is dpf are there to lower emissions will it fail the mot if u do

Any advice would be cool

Thanks

DPF is purely a clean air, emmisions job. At present removal won't result in MOT failure. MOT changes next year might change that.

As for ****ing up the engine, a reputable company should be able to remove it, map out the errors and give you both better power AND economy, safrly. More so if you map out and remove any EGR too.

I too would be interested in this as my wife Zaf CDTi has had probs with it in the past and that funny burning smell has reappeared. Vauxhalls answer was "you should have bought a petrol"!!, reeeaaaaalllllly helpful that.

I owned a brand new SRi CDTi Zaf for 8 months and had nowt but trouble with it. After MUCH arguing VX replaced it with another new one. After 3 weeks it began to have the same issues as the first car. Needless to say we got shut of it.

Moral of the story, don't buy a Vauxhall and if you have get rid and buy another Scoob for the missus ! Twas what we did

We're an Evolution Chips dealer and have a great deal of experience with this issue. We've completed this procedure on dozens of cars now with no problems as a result. There's quite a few evolution chips dealers across the country, the remap has a lifetime guarantee so go with your local dealer.

Just looked and I have one 12 miles from me, so that could be a result. Looks like about £369 inc Remap and VAT. Thats cheaper than the scoob lol

Ok today the wife's erg valve failed basics are the car turned over but only fired on and off and then stalled I rang the breakdown but as I was waiting guy in house near me popped out and guess what worked for vauxhall he went inside got his lappy and hooked it up nothing really came up so he proceeded to get a hammer he hit the erg a couple of time and voila it worked , I drove home and and was ok, I've asked him to priced me lone at cost and I,ll pay him in beer to fit seems like a good deal, just depends how much valve is.

Anyway local to me is a company that will remove remap both dpf and erg for 200 so I'm going to wait for price of valve, and also speak to my mate who's an mot tester to see if any issues may arise inmthe future

What we tend to do with sticky EGR valves is blank them off with a sheet of high temperature universal gasket material cut to size over inbetween the flange of the valve and feed pipie (or manifold).

It shouldn't affect DPF regen as the EGR needs to be closed for regen to take place. However if the ECU logs a fault code with the EGR unit itself, then the DPF will not regen and clog up, hence ruining it*.

*actually, they aren't always ruined (unless driven for months on end in limp home mode) they can be removed, flushed out with a high pressure steam cleaner and traffic film remover then refitted and a regen performed immediately afterwards.

So I'm presuming once removed they map the ecu to forget about the valve ?

How do you force a regen in a vauxhall or can only the garage do it

you need a small hole in the plate when you blank the egr, that stops any fault codes

I get that, smells like buring rubber, its just the DPF regening, My egr went last night, but a hammer made it work again,

M8 is about to change the EGR for me for 140 quid fitted, 200 at stealers,

Ive got a guy local that will do the EGr and DPF for 200 all in, but evo chips in wakefield want 350 just for software then maybe another 350 to remove and patch, their view was replace the exchanust with a proper section rather than butcher the old one, hence the hiked cost

saying that tonight i,ll fit a new EGR and get my m8 to activate DPF to both are clear.

if it goes again in the next 12 months there comming off
