Focus ST
I have an Exige for fun and an 05 WRX as the run around. Have been thinking of getting something newer for the run around with a bit of fun like the Focus ST around a 59 plate which is the 2.5 litre engine I think. Anyone any experience, do you think this would be a 'down' step I might regret?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

Had an STi Type R, WRX PPP and then 'downgraded' to an ST. Now I feel grown up and less like a dick in the opinion of others.
Front wheel drive but a really sorted chassis as standard. Don't feel I have to upgrade everything like I did in the scoob, not as quick but quick enough on the roads.
Very nice Volvo T5 lump under the bonnet, very tunable with a plug in and play Dreamscience.
Traction control, heated front windscreen, full leather heated Recaro's, bluetooth radio, same lousy MPG as the scoob.
Suits me fine whenn I'm visting my patients at home

That's exactly how I feel too. The general opinion of Impreza's from a lot of the public is shocking. I would always get nasty comments in work etc about my old scoob. When I tried to advertise on Facebook, all I got from my friends was 'Chav' and 'Boy Racer' comments. I honestly did feel that people looked down on you. Not a nice feeling.
I don't feel I took a step down at all when I swapped my old Blob WRX(although I may have felt different about an STI). In my opinion my new ST beats it in 'almost' every area. When I say almost, I will admit the handling will never match the AWD system but I am not a street racer so the ST is plenty grippy enough for me.
I'm currently running 270bhp/390lb with my mods and it drives superb. The torque on the 2.5 Volvo engine is immense and pulls like a train even in 6th! I just feel all round its a more subtle, less 'In you face' car that steps up when required. I haven't even gone into all the gadgets neither
Go test one Norman, I'm sure you'll be surprised....I was.
P.S I don't have any stripes and it's not Electric Orange

I had a 06 plate, was a bit flat standard (for the 1st week i had it) then i put the dreamscience on it and it was a totally different car - very quick.
MPG with/ without map was 23mpg so not economical, felt a lot better built than the scoobs i had, centre pod dials were useful, hatch more practical than a boot, comfy
I'd have another if i used it but i only drive to work and back (7 miles each way) so it wasn't practical - and it never got stuck in all the snow we had last year
