Why not ask this on http://www.ex-s.net/cgi-bin/ultimate...?ubb=forum;f=1. They have lots of Honda type opinions.

My brother has Just bought a 92 Jap Import Civic SiR-II and we are going to put the engine in his Rally-Cross car.
We drove the car home and I can confirm that it sounds lovely when the VTEC is doing it's stuff above 5800 RPM.
Makes 168BHP as standard so in a spaceframed mini with fiberglass bodywork it should be somewhat on the rapid side!
Pretty sure that the UK spec cars only make 158BHP though, hence why we wanted a Jap Import car.

Darren, I must admit that Andy failing to break one is one of the reasons I am thinking of trying one out, I am getting a bit fed up of the scooby's massive thirst when I'm out playing.

I had a 1993 VTI hatch a couple of years back. Looking back I can see what a great little car it was and only sold it because I fancied a change.
Like everyone says they have a ridiculously revvy engine and are pretty quick. The sound change when you hit VTEC is rather lovely. Don't expect miracles with the mpg. I seem to remember mine averaging 30-35 mpg.
The interior is a bit plain but there's plenty of room, the plastic floor of the boot will pi$$ you off after a while, it did me!!
It's not the easiest car to drive quickly, its a bit fidgety and it's difficult keeping at high revs too get the best from the engine.
I'd definately have another, maybe a Civic typeR in a couple of years.

30-35mpg sounds alright to me, I'm only getting 20-25 on my daily commute, and I dread to think what it goes down to when I'm having a play.
