Opinions are like aerosols or something, so I want to hear yours!
I've got £7000 to spend on a car. Obviously I'm considering a Scooby, but apart from that, if it were you, what would you buy?
My requirements are: nothing too mainstream (I like to be different), nothing too low rent, (I currently drive a Lexus), has to be quick and handle well (obviously ), has to be reliable/sane enough to put up with my 90 mile commute each day (nothing that produces less then 20mpg or needs a £5000 service every 6 miles, ta)

OK, if it helps, here is a snippet of my short list:
300ZX TT (expensive to look after)
RX-7 (?'s about wankel reliability)
GTi-R (but it's a Sunny!!!)
Legacy GT-B (nearly bought one a while back but the seller was a dick)
Renault GTA Turbo (too old now)
Vectra 1.6LS (only joking!)
Very nice Scooby WRX in Autotrader this week, but I won't have the cash till next weekend, dayum!

You can get a mint FIAT Coupe Turbo for 6 - 7K and they are very fast with great tuning potential! The handling is not the best but it is good and with new suspension and larger wheels it would really handle!

The gtir will get 20+mpg on a motorway run but if you boot it or do a lot of stop start driving that falls into the teens.Quick car for the cash and for that money you'll get one with some decent aftermarket bits like brakes/suspension etc.

Thanks for the replies guys, some interesting suggestions that I hadn't considered before.
I've mad my decision: I'm gonna get a Scooby, I get the money next week so I'll be on the prowl for a nice WRX
