I really like that - I think current AMG Mercs are superb and not a lot beats that proper V8 burble.
A big trump card over the M3 is lots of torque. The M3 lacks it big time for such a car (as does the RS4 and RS5).

Personally I don't think the M3 looks bland. The carbon fibre roof and bonnet vents and hump means there is no way you could mistake it for a regular 3 series coupe.
It's good to see AMG upping their game. They are giving M division a good run for their money which is good for all enthusiasts

Will this replace or sit in their line up next to the CLK?
Quite like it, plus AMG V8 is one of the best current exhaust notes you can buy! Much nicer than an M3!

Pulled up next to one in Tesco the other day. We both commented on the price of 99, and I joked it shouldn't bother him if he can afford that car! We pulled out together, and he give it some beans. Sounded really nice but not as good as the scoob

The problem with the M3 is that certain colours do it no justice.
Black and Interlagos blue hide all the humps and bumps and make it fade into normality.
The local black C63 still looks stunning.
Mineral white or even red actually accentuates the styling addenda - as it does in the pic of the AMG.
When I test drove an M3 last year I just couldn't get excited by it.

The problem i have with the M3 is its sincere lack of torque, and of course the image
M3 - 420BHP and has 400 NM of torque
AMG C63 Coupe - 457BHP and 600 NM torque
Really really like this C63 Coupe, but then again i always fancied a CLK Black Series. Bit more info on the C Coupe on their website, looks well trimmed as to be expected from MB http://www.mercedes-amg.com/#/c63feature

hope it is an m3 beater in handling & everyday use etc, m3 has had the flag too long & needs knocking off the podium! brother in law has just ordered a new m3 with the sports pack kit thing so he can have the 19" wheels etc to make it that little bit different .
I said for the same money i would have chose the nissan R35 - both £60k cars & for me the nissan is a far more capeable car & fun, much less of a rep looking car - no offence to m3 drivers, just not my cup of tea
best thing is, he did want the nissan but his wife thinks they are chavvy & wants him to have the M3 ha ha - be told

The coupe is lovely, but I prefer the saloon.
I drive its predecessor and can confirm the AMG V8 is a cracking engine, lovely sound, great car, docile when you want to be, an animal when you go for it.

The AMG's have always had the upperhand in terms of engine sound. Loved listening to the F1 safety car and medical car (estate) chasing each other around Silverstone a couple of years back. What were they SL63's ??
I parked next to a new M3 in white the other day and thought it looked really nice. Theyve never been that lairy and in your face style wise.
Agreed if I actually had that kind of cash Id prefer the Datsun as more in your face which I like. Got a few years yet before I prefer the more refined nature of ze Merc and ze Beemer

The problem is that the GTR cannot fit passengers especially kids in child seats in the rear. The way the rear seat is configured/shaped means even small kids have zero leg room, I've tried.
So if you need the rear seats the M3 makes sense and the GTR is useless, if you don't need the rear seats then yes GTR everytime

Torque at the wheel depends upon gear ratio as well, and how much rpm an engine can put out. It's not just the case that a high torque engine is faster.

Manuals with race car clutches etc not so.

The current M3 is a bit of a vulgar lardbucket in my mind, but I would rather test drive cars that just look at figures like that to judge.
