But here in the real world, on average British roads, in anything other than bone dry roads, the RS5 would be the safer, quicker A to B car.

As said above, it's got far better interior quality to the BMW.

The only fly in the ointment, is the silly price you can spec an RS5 to. Easily £70-£80k

Out of the 2, I'd take the RS5. But armed with £80k to spend on a car, the RS5 wouldn't get a look in.

the only Audi that I would consider owning is the R8 ,I think you'll find most drivers prefers the M3 over the RS5

I'd say the quality of the interiors is very similar. Both will last as well, they are just designed differently. Audis are too fussy inside IMO. BMs function as well but manage to do so in a much cleaner looking way.

But hey, if you choose a car on some dodgy preconceptions of interior looks over anything else then I guess its best to face facts - you are a perfect Audi customer.

I inexplicably found myself wandering into an Audi shop full of cars last week.
Inside was a white RS5 with a price tag of £72 Thousand Great British Pounds hanging off it.

I sat in it and wondered where the money had gone into making it.

Another thing - I put the drivers seat to a comfortable position for me and found ZERO room for anyone but Douggie Bader himself behind me.

For seventy two thousand pounds?
More room in the back of me old Porch!

(it did have nice 20" wheels on, though )

I don't think either car came across well Clarkson did not have a good word to say about either of them what's his problem! I think he's been spoilt with Lambo's, Aston's, Bugatti's etc and his head is firmly up his own ar$e.

The M3 won out overall but he slagged the performance pack off and the car was no quicker round the track with it?

I've never met you Alan, but you're a plasterer aren't you?

In that case yes, you're the demographic that Audi aims for...

He harked on about the adjustable suspension in the competition pack , my M3 has this and mine is nearly 3 years old , the pack only involves the CSL style wheels and 10mm lowered suspension as far as I know.
The adjustable suspension is quite good really , in default mode it's on its softest setting 'comfort ' so you dont feel every bump in the road , then you have sport , then turbo nutter b'stard filling loosener setting

I was really surprised how badly the Audi turned in , it was understeering like a baffoon !

When he said the new M3 I was like sweeet they are doing a E9x CSL but I was soon disappointed lol. E46 M3 CSL is my fave BMW of all time. Mrs mate had one debadged with 318i on the back. Not exactly subtle to most car enthusiasts but Im sure the odd chav pulled up at the lights in their Saxo thinking I'll have that. Always made me chuckle.
