I had a 1.6 s-special last year, great cars, wouldnt think twice about getting another one, especially since there pretty cheap
£1500 is on the low side so you'd be best to go have a quick look

Be carefull! One like that only imported in 2008 is likely to be a pile of crap, hence it having to be shipped half way across the world to unload to some unsuspecting brit!
Personally, would go for a genuine uk model- if it costs more, it'll be worth it as a lot of these jap imports are bad news and ending up costing much more to put right.

All the 5's are prone to corrosion around the arches and sills. The UK ones sometimes more so as they have seen more salty winters! The Jap spec cars are undersealed too and often have better equipment. Regardless of the origin of the cars, at this age, buy on condition not age, mileage or nationality!

Did you have a look?
Check the Insurance as Eunos Roadsters cost more than UK MX5's
I would always stick with a UK car - but, to be honest, £1500 is pocket money ... which should worry you!
The sills just in front of the rear arch is the place to look for rust.

Great sports cars though and Jap ones do get far greater spec...as I understand it,every MX5 comes out of the same factory

I had a 91 BRGreen Eunos Roadster V Spec for a couple of years. Loads of back wheel drive fun and fairly bullet proof engine. I didn't spend anything on breakdowns, not 1p, whilst I had mine.
I prefer the import as they tend to be a lot better spec'd, I'm on my 5th jdm import now. Like already said though, go on condition. It's the right time to buy just before the summer.

Probably because there generally better cars that can have there history checked and know they havent been wrapped around a lampost in Tokoyo. The Uk models have had proper underseal protection and are gererally cheaper to insure and give more confidense to buyers when you want to sell on.
