Idel problem with BMW...any ideas please?

Default Idel problem with BMW...any ideas please?

Have recently bought a BMW e46 328 se 1999/v
When started from cold the car rev's flutuate on idel....up and down by about 500ish rev's.
Its fine when warm.
I know nothing about BM's, as never had owned one before.
Any ideas please chaps?
Idel control valve is my only guess.

I had this on an e36 325i that I owned, Was cured by replacing the idle control valve You could try cleaning it first, I cleaned mine which made no difference but you may have better luck.
