Default Thinking of getting one of these........

Jaguar XJ Saloon 4.0 XJR Supercharged 4d Auto (1998/99) Anyone ever had the joy of owning one of these wolf in sheeps clothing? I think they still look good to be honest, much prefer this shape to the newer models - Obviously it aint gonna be cheap on fuel, but for the miles that I do it doesn't really bother me Wondering if they are reliable, anything to look for (gearbox, rust etc...)

haha, I know mate - must be getting old, but I've always liked these! I remember one flying past me getting spanked, it sounded fantastic - 370bhp, cant be too shabby in a straight line!!

They spend more time in the garage being fixed than being used..

Friend of a friend had one, and I have heard of others with the same issues.

But do remember people tend to only mention bad experiences with cars.

To true, I had my moments with the Subaru, but the experience far outweighed the heavy running costs! Joined a jag forum before, but to be quite honest it was a waste of space - just showed me how spolit we are with the place!

I test drove one of these many years ago and found the traction on them to be really poor. The ground was wet though but I found whenever I tried to accelerate quickly from a roundabout for example I just spun the wheels. Could have just been dodgy tyres but it was an approved used car from a Jag dealership so you'd hope not!

A neighbour of mine has a black one.

Cost him peanuts to buy but a fortune to run.

Does look good in an 'old money' kind of way
