Does it make a noise like the Integra when the cams change?
I've sold the bugeye and need a new motor, wondering if trip to see an accord is worth it. I know they have more sound deadening, but just wondering if the sexy vtech scream is still there.

No it doesn't sound like an Integra when the cams come on as the ITR has as much deadening as a matchbox!

You can still hear it though. Also, it feels like a turbo kick which is pretty cool. Apparently (and I never got to test this) the ATR has one of the best FWD setups ever.

I'd have a look.

having taken an accord typr r around the track a few times, i can say that they are most cool... nice and quick, but with nice balance to them too. In a world (albeit freakish) where Scoobs never existed, i'd be driving one of these..! The VTEC unit is sweet, and sounds absolutley awesome - although you really have to be whacking along to hear it.

The scream is well and truly there - not quite as noisy as the Integra but still scares the passengers from 5,750rpm onwards

My mate has one (currently sat behind me) and below the VTEC range it's quite dosile and "normal", but it does have that lovely kick up the @rse when you wind it up.

They really do go well when you want them too!

Thumbs up

very nice car - the handling is so different from most FWD cars

All the power is high up the rev range - you have to work hard to keep the car up there. Very different from an impreza in that resepct

Eats front tyres, very reliable, sounds fantastic.

Cheers folks, not too many about my way, so arranging a test drive ain;t easy.
I have lined up the new S3(comfort) Civic Type R (Manic) , Alfa 156 2.0TS (sexy looks) , MY99 (been a long time since I've driven a standard one, need a benchmark) , Forester TurboS (weirdo)
Now only need to line up one of the corny new MG things before finally caving in and buying a UK STI

Shock decsion : a dodgy-Nogaro Blue S3 is now sitting at home on my drive, who would have thought it? It's a MY02, 6 speed 'box and 225BHP. The cabin is a very nice place to be thats for sure.
If I didn't have the 22 to fall back on I may have gone STI7, but I have so I didn't Didn't get a go in an Accord - fairly rare car, but the Audi was so convincing that I stopped looking anyway

Chuckster,

Good choice m8. The S3 is faster in both handling and straight line performance that the Accord. It is also a lot more useable with quattro stability and all that torques low down.

The accord did not seem to be much more involving either, the S3 is actually a pretty good drivers car. Problem being even though the S3 engine sounds lovely, it is not loud enough. The Accord is simply awesome when the V-Tech kicks in!
