Default A few pics of my Skyline

Well I've just managed to get a few pics of my skyline today.

Its a 96 R33 GT-R with a few mods.
Forged Engine rebuild by RisingSun Performance including recon'd turbos.
Ray Volks TE37's with brand new Pirelli tyres.
S/steel exhaust with twin Trust downpipes.
Lowered and uprated springs.

stunning !! im a huge skyline fan and a jealous would love a gtr like that !!, shame so many of them become drift tools and get wrecked even if they are just the gts-t models

Thanks

I find it totally different to my Scoob, not better, just different.
The ride is a lot harder, the wheels/tyres are quite a bit bigger in all aspects and the suspension is a lot firmer therefore it feels a lot more stable cornering.
The power is more linear and just goes on for ever. It seems to have more pull throughout the rev range without having to wind the turbos up.
In the Scoob it felt like: kick in the back - change gear - kick in the back - change gear but more nimble. The Skyline, you can stay in gear a lot longer and you don't initially feel the kick or urgency like in the scoob until you look at the speedo and think - ****, how am I going that fast already. It does motorway miles a lot more comfortably than the scoob.

had an r33 gtst, only owned it a couple of months as couldnt keep the **** end in check, as have a heavy right foot, and the missus was always moaning.

it hadnt had much done to it other than an exhaust filter etc, but it sounded awesome at full chat, almost on a par with my scoob. sort of regret getting rid of it now, but hopefully will own another one soon, yours is extremely sweet by the way

I bought the car off a guy who needed cash quite quickly. He's a construction/steel erector and apparently that industry is suffering at the moment and he'd been made redundant. The car was advertised on PH and the price had been dropped significantly. I had cash(my Porsche Turbo fund), checked the provenance and bought it.

The guy was genuinely gutted when I went to collect it, he made his Mrs count the money and do the paperwork exchange, he could hardly speak. I'd HPI'd it and spoke to Risingsun and everything had checked out so I paid him his asking price. I didn't feel like negotiating, fresh imports that are older, with more miles are a chunk more than I paid.

I factored in it was due a service as soon as I got it which cost me about £1k.
I was getting 150miles/£50 but that's now 200miles/£50 since one of the AFR's has been sorted.

What attracted me to this particular one was the work that's been done.
Forged engine and Turbo rebuild carried out by Risingsun Performance who are supposed to be one of the best for these cars. £8k
The Ray Volks TE37 wheels are about £2.5k
Brand new Pirelli tyres £1k
Stainless exhaust, uprated suspension and a few other bits.
Strangely it's still on the original ECU but I may look at changing this to a Link 4 in a couple of months. According to the Skyline gurus the Link 4 is a direct replacement and can make a huge difference. I'd like 500bhp and 20mpg

Zip

I've always fancied a Skyline, apparently Nissan bought a Porsche 959, stripped it and copied all the trickery and put it in the R33 GT-R. I believe a lot of the 4 wheel drive system and electronic controls are similar to the Porsche 996 Turbo. There is a gauge that shows when and how much drive is being transferred to the front wheels. I've done a few 996 Turbo drivers days and they are not that dissimilar to drive, if anything I think this one may be a bit stiffer as its been lowered on uprated suspension.

Anyway, it makes me smile.

The only thing that spoils the car is the cheap looking rear fog light, other than that, spot on!

You're right, any ideas?

The back lights have been modified so that all four are now stop and tail.
