Too true guys.....

I drove the ZS190 for a laugh.....it was like a lawnmower compared to any Scoob......with a seriosly naff interior too!

Keep laughing at them....it winds them up!

Cheers

They drive round with this smug look on their faces, but surely they should know that what they have is an Accord/Civic Type - R wannabe!

Exactly!!!

At least the Imp is evolved from a farmers car to be a storming performance model. Can hardly be said about the MG's - perhaps when the big uns come out.

But these people driving them (you can see it on their face) really think they have something special. Just look like old rovers that have been Max'd. They've soooo obviously copied styling ques from Evos and Scoobs and thus the MG drivers think they are in the same league..........

I can't go out these days without looking in my rear view and seeing them up my a$$ trying to push me on..... If I really wanted to there would be no contest.

Yeah but thats the only one that looks like being half decent and it ain't even out yet!! Even then it will weigh shed loads more than a scoob/evo so it will need all that power. Don't think there will be that much in it......but def one to watch for
The rest of em are all just wannabe-have-a-goes.

Dizzy - lol mate - come over here and they'll bait you all the time!!! It just narks me as people here obviously have been taught to drive by monkeys and if I ever needed to stop quick, they wouldn't have a hope being so close.

Funny thing is, I get the same stuff when I drive my old Golf GTI, but I rarely get any bother in my T5 cos most dont know what it is or how quick it is, those who do tend to leave it alone unless they are really sure that they are quicker.

I thought that I had a Laguna permanently attached to my rear bumper today until got to work. It seems that a loud exhaust and alloys is the key here, red rag to a bull.

An Audi TT decided to show me the performance of his 225 bhp, he moved to the outer lane at the lights at the last moment, looked across, revved up, so I did, the lights changed and he went for it big style, I on the other hand moved off slowly, using no more than 3000 rpm up to the speed limit.

Whats the point ? what do I need to prove, that a 225 bhp 4wd 30 grand car is faster than a 13 year old Golf, er I think I knew that anyway !

Yep - that sums it up nicely. Exactly what I do, I know the cars quick and have nothing to prove so just stick to the limit - and that seems to wind them up more!!

lol @ T5 - bet you've suprised a few in that!!

My brother has a ZT (the big one of the three). In a straight line it was every bit as fast as my old MY00 turbo from 20-70ish, (the 4wd gave me an advantage from 0), and the handling is pretty good as well. Build quality is top notch, and the gadgets are cool. Hasn't got the grin factor of the scoob though.

I had to trade up to the new STI just to keep ahead

Iain.

Sorry Iain Young but I'm sceptical that it can keep up with a standard MY00 even when traction is no longer an issue, I'd expect the scooby to ease away.

I only started easing away when doing around 70ish. These things are quick at normal speeds. I know that driving home from work, he could as good as match my MY00 in accelleration. Doesn't stand a chance against my STi though

Im not telling the whole truth, a boxter had a go the other morning (against the GTI), 2 sets of lights (first set changes in the distance) and matey revs up and then realises he has to wait, ours change and we move away, both gingerley in 1st, change to second and both gun it, result, between 20 and 70 Boxster couldnt pull any distance and has to go in behind, joins the motorway and he decides to hammer off an nearly hits a van !

I wouldnt have beleived had I not seen it myself, mayne the Magnex, K and N and chip are doing the biz ?

My last one did the same to a Boxster as well. Must try harder

Respect is due to the Rovers I see, I had a Vitesse Turbo and it was FANTASTIC, 800 quid for a mint K reg with a knackered engine, when I had put a new motor in it, it stodd me at 1400 ,went like stink and I sold it for 1600 !!!

Nice black leather Recaros, Aircon, 80 % as quick as a Scoob for 10 % of the price, Bargain !

Well, I very rarely have anyone try to race me. Mind you, who'd want to race a Skoda?

Anyone remember that sketch with Two Ronnies and John Cleese about class system?!

'I look down on him, but I look up to him' etc

Seems to be relevent here!

I detest the owners of 'slower' cars and laugh at their attempts to incite me to race - but if I see a 993 C2 at the lights or on a dual carriage way, I'm going to give it a blast!!

There's probably a post on a Porsche BBS somewhere complaining about a grinning idiot in a puny Impreza trying to take on Porkers!

Just my humble point of view...

I had similar thoughts reading this Saxo Boy.

On paper (from Evo)

ZT190 - 187 bhp @ 6500, 180lbft @ 4000, 128bhp per tonne

Scooby - 215 @ 5600, 214 @ 4000, 177bhp per tonne

Are you sure he wasn't using a tow rope Iain?

I agree with Mr Watson and that is something I've always been aware of. So much so that I play my fair share and will take on the slower cars so that they can see the difference. In return I hope that the scoobs and Porka's etc will blow me away so I can see the difference. Guess your screwed if you've got an F1 though!

I've had a test drive in the MGZS (Rover45 thingy) with 2.5V6.

Probably the only new car with a worse dashboard than an old shape scoob.

I would say that a UK Scoob would not pull away significantly above 25mph and would not leave it for dead through the bends (in the dry) either.

MGRover wanted over £17000 for one with a few toys though they are obviosly having a laugh!!

Ian Watson,

Yeah sure, may have a play with a porker but I won't sit 1ft off his rear bumper if I did, and this is the main point I am getting at - the sheer number of times these MG's are severly tailgating. Even in 40/30 mph speed limits when I do the limit and they sit right on my bumper - hit the derestriction and punch it, bye bye!! only 2 secs later when I've eased off at 60/70 or whatever and then there they are again after catching up, 1ft off the rear bumper. Worse than beemer drivers.

I wouldn't rise to a "race" anyway, perhaps if my car was standard they would have half a chance........

Nope no tow rope. I always thought my MY00 was a bit slow though, (didn't seem as quick as other scoobs).

Red face

Heyyy not all of us Mg drivers are that bad.
i had a 97my scoob before i got the ZR160, more insurance (honest) but cheaper to run. I drove a Zs180 and it was quick but its drink problem put me off. The tailgaters seem to be the young kids in the 105bhp models (with free insurance) who think because their cars got alloys and spoilers its quick.
