Default Clio 197 Cup

Mrs Moley is looking at getting rid of her Fiesta ST and replacing it with a Clio 197 Cup

Has anyone got experience of one?

They're meant to be right little pocket rockets! My mrs has a 172 and that is pretty rapid when in the power band

http://www.lookers.co.uk/special-off...ult-clio/5487/

There is a great deal on at the moment by Lookers - its a car finance type dealership.

They have Renault Sport Clio 200 with a £1000 deposit and £200 a month over 24 months with limited 6K a year mileage.

Normally I wouldn't even bother with finance but these things are great deals. I've got a quote for a White Clio 200 with black speedline wheels and those really nice Recaro seats for £240 a month. You can reduce the deposit and raise the payments if you want.

They are being very agressive with pricing so shopping around the 4 dealerships that have this offer you could probably get more off or more options added - A/C Sat Nav etc.

Theres a payment at the end of about £8.5K but the dealers are counting on you giving it back so they have lovely low mileage sporty hatch backs to sell on. Private sales on these are over £10K so you can either sell privately and hand the difference to the dealer or use the equity to re-run the fun in 24 months.

Might show the wife that - try and lure away from over priced Minis.

Just the spec I would go for by the way!

Can you do that?

Any idea of the excess mileage charge? I've looked on the website but can't see anything.

Can't remember what the chap said about going over. I can get away with 6K a year and I'm sure its not that hard to disconnect the speedo

If the car is HPI'd it would show up on finance. If you get a loan equal to the GFV to pay off the dealer then stick the car up for sale privately. Private sales of sub 10K miles 08 RS Clios are over £10K.

OR, the dealer will acknowledge you have equity in the car and will offset that against a new car. Effectively after the deposit you could just pay £200 a month and get a new car every 2 years.

You can also do this deal on the FF version apparently - the cup packs are options but you get the luxury stuff instead. Personally don't need A/C and Sat Nav but the Recaros are a must irrespective of how uncomfortable they are

Like I said though they are really agressive on this and it was all I could do when I called to tell the guy I wanted to think it over. My Jeep is worth £1200 on a good day, I've got some stuff from a hobby I've lost interest in to easily cover the rest over the first year. If I pay off the GFV and sell the car for £1500 more, then I've paid 50% of the second year. I've actually gone off the idea but the deal is on until the end of the year and they won't sting you for the VAT increase.

Check this out - the Clio driver is really working hard but still

mate has got a 197, it's not got the cup chassis though but he loves it, fairly cheap to run and maintain and the handling is really good, interior is a bit better than the old 172/182 cars. Been nice and reliable as well, would quite like a rs clio myself

I think we need a picture of her, say in that pink bra, to decide whether the car is suitable Gareth

A friends wife has one of these and I don't see the point as she drives like a woman and these need to be thrashed. She used to have an RX8 that had never seen 5k rpm +

I've just ordered a Clio 200 on the finance deal - it's 4.5% APR over two years, but the discount offered by the dealer covers the interest. In other words, if you went in and offered cash, you would probably get just over £2k discount. With this deal, it's more like £3k, something to do with Renault dealer incentives I think.

I test drove a Clio 197 a few months back and it was quite good, I then test drove the F1 version which has the cup chassis but has some seriously nice seats and has air con. The cup chassis is a very noticeable improvement over the standard and definitely the one to go for if the cars going to be driven like it should.

Ive just ordered a 200 in storm grey with cup chasis, black speedlines etc. I left out the seats because they do not feel £1000 better than the standard seats and i actually prefer the standard ones. My excuse for going back to my youth is that i needed a new toy as the bike does'nt get as much use in the winter

My car will look like this

Did you get yours on the Lookers finance deal? If so, how much does the monthly payment work out at your spec?

I'm seriously considering one of these, the Mrs Smart car goes back at end of the month, that was a £1000 down and £118.00 a month so one of these for £1000 down and £200 a months seems like a cracking deal.

CHeers for the info on the Lookers deal EddScott

Called up our nearest Renault Lookers which turned out to be Chester and got one on the above deal under the wife's details as it'll be her's!

They said delivery would be approx last week of Dec but we were lucky enough to grab one already being built at the factory - it's in white which is what we wanted, with AC and black alloys !! Should be pretty sweet and works out to £236approx per month.

Looking forward to taking delivery!
