Supercharged Civic Type R

40% sounds good - 276 bhp plus induction and exhaust - maybe round about 300bhp in 1200kg car.
Probably needs other items with it to cope with power increase like that, maybe clutch and brakes for starters.

Scooby Regular
This stuff seems to crop up quite often on

I think i saw a new CTR with a supercharger on there !
Was a white one with some large graphics if I remember correctly .

Hmmm...
IMHO the Civic iVTEC lends itself more to having a turbo conversion than a supercharger. That way the turbo could give massive low-end grunt then the VTEC cams could take over when it runs out of steam. (Traction control allowing ) That would be a killer car!

Select the 'Pwr Demo Car' and click on the Civic. They've done it. You can use the Altavista translator to translate the specs.

I don't think you'll get 40% on top of the std. 200bhp. With previous vtecs integra/accord, adding a supercharger or turbo means you have to junk the vtec. 240/250bhp seems more likely.
Although you do have a very strong engine with a 8,500 rpm limiter which is nice. I'd just buy a faster car in the first place rather than buying a brand new car, trashing the lovely Honda warranty, then spending 5K plus to supercharge it.

Van Aaken like to turbocharge cars-you could be the prototype owner! In this months CCC they show a turboed Puma and a turboed Ka and the cost is a lot less than £5k(just over a grand for the Ka using an ickle turbo).Obviously these are kits already developed so will be cheaper but if can convince them there's a demand, who knows?

I remember someone wanting to turbocharge an mx5 in a club I'm in and www.v-spec-developments.com came up with some very good prices for a conversion.Maybe they do one for the new civic,as they are imported kits.

Actually tramlining and oversteer don't seem to be a problem with the Type-R. I now drive mine at the same speeds everywhere as my old Scooby in the dry (obviously the wet is a different matter - Scooby heaven!). In fact I reckon I can get round some bends (and roundabouts) faster than I could in the Scooby because of the cornering nature of the Honda!!
As for wheelspin. To start with (after selling my Scooby and whilst still in AWD mentality) it was a bit of a problem. I'm now used to the nature of the beast (Type-R) and haven't had a wheelspin pulling away for ages. In fact the only spin recently was changing hard from 2nd-3rd when joining the M3 where I live

Laurence you obviously aint trying hard enough mate
The 172 and the CTR have the same problem, when it rains it causes problems for driving fast, 200BHP cars really need a LSD IMHO.
I can happily stay with a Scoob in the wet.

They made a reliable 1.6 CTR Turbo running 300BHP w/o T/C reliable, which recored 189.5mph.
Ok the company owner died trying to get the thing past 200 mph, driver error alledgly RIP , but still it can be done.
The Honda engines are renowned for the strengh, and not going bang.
