Default The Dream Car of your Youth

When I was a spotty teenager, I always had my heart set on one of these. It had to be silver like this one. I remember seeing an identical one at an owner's club track day event at Mallory Park in about 1986. There was also a brand new Countach QV there in pearlescent white. Dead '80s.

Anyway if my loins hadn't proved so fertile, I'd probably be in the market for this now:

Yes, yes I know some of you may remember that Phil Collins drove one in an episode of Miami Vice, which makes it decidely uncool, but that's not really the car's fault. Trouble is that it would barely keep ahead of a hot-hatch these days.

Which car did you lust after when you were growing up?

RS500/RS2000/RS200, or a Lotus Sunbeam. Id still take any of them now (as long as the RS2000 was a Mk1 or Mk2!)

Edited to add: That Miami Vice episode was coooool (80s speak), In the Air Tonight playing in the background, espadrilles, sleeves rolled up, pastel colours, alligator, living on a boat. Whats not to like?

I had a 1980 Mk2 RS2000 Custom in black, bitter chocolate Recaro (tennis racket headrests) interior Group N extractor manifold and a uprated carb pushing a massive 135-140bhp - this was in 1985

dead spit except no RS2000 in silver on the rear quarters and no stupid aftermarket sunroof either

First car I had serious lust for (and that was when I was about 20 !!) was the Ferrari Dino - I know its outdated by today's standards, but the sound and its shape did it for me back in the late sixties.

350 bhp, great road presence, immense torque. Everything will get out of your way, why not?

For me it was the mark 2 Escort RS2000, RS200, Sierra RS500, Ferrari F40 & Mclaren F1 The F40 is still my favourite supercar followed by the Mclaren F1 I'd have either of those over a modern supercar.

Wanted allsorts over the years; especially BTCC cars, rally cars and expensive road/race cars that I'll never be able to afford but these three spring to mind first in the "could possibly own oneday" category ;
Mercedes Benz AMG Hammer - http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgur...1t:429,r:2,s:0
All American Racing Cuda - http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgur...ed=0CBkQ9QEwAA
And ofcourse the Subaru Impreza WRX (1990-2000 models/classics) - http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgur...1t:429,r:4,s:0

Real dream car though would have to be a Mclaren F1 special edition

Easy one this RS200 I still remember my dad taking me to Coventry stock cars one night and seeing one blasting round the track however as it was a wet shale track the driver was having loads of problems putting the power down!

Dream car for me(not a car) was the A Team van or the car from Dukes of Hazard. Later on for some reason i loved the Volvo 850 Estate T5,so i got one at the age of 23.Then i fell in love with Subaru/Impreza but couldn't afford one,and then finally got one. But have always had a soft spot for these,,,,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-6SguDEwIg
