Civic Type-R or Mini Cooper S?
#3
I've changed my Elise 111S for a Mini Cooper with Works kit and 17" wheels (loss of job + need for rear seat forced the "downgrade"). The Mini is absolutely superb, feels and looks special, handles fantastically, and has sufficient power to make it fun given the tremendous speed it can carry through the corners (more than my old STI5 in the dry-twisty!).
I believe the PWR of the Mini-S and the Type-r will be pretty close, so with everything else superior in the S IMHO (handling, chassis, style, etc) I'd go for the Mini anytime.

I don't reckon there's going to be much to choose from here 'cept for which you prefer.
Power and performance wise the CTR is faster and personally I think it's more of a 'Performance Experience' but then I only ever drove the originally Mini Cooper and so this could be somewhat unfair.
Handling and chassis wise I think that the Civic is fantastic in the dry an Impreza isn't going to do much more than keep up. Also, if you're into modding there's going to be loads round for the CTR pretty soon as the US Civic market is just MAD!
Personally I traded my MY98 for a Silver Type-R and haven't regretted it since. Test drive both and just choose, I don't think you'll be disappointed either way

If it is that close then it depends on your taste - either got it or dont got it!
Mini is too bitty for my liking - all that chrome / plastic / colour coded bits, needs to be addressed. The inside is just as bad, no co-orditaion or control over choices of finish.
Civic looks like it drives, definately the looker out of the 2, maybe just better evolved with its looks.
All of course just MHO, for what its worth.

Do You mean the Mini Cooper or Mini Cooper S. If its the S then be prepared for a long wait. It isnt actually available until July and i was told in Jan that I wouldnt be able to expect delivery until December so it may be worse than that now. Devivery on Standard Cooper not that bad though.
