hi all

i'm looking for a nice diesel car that is comfortable and has some performance

i have around £6k to spend but would actually like to spend less

any suggestions

so far i've thought

mercedes c270 or e320

bmw 330d or 530d

interested in auto with some toys but not so many i'll fall asleep

not too fussed if it's early 100000 miles as long as it has history

Was in the same boat as yourself. In the end I paid £1300 for a 2002 MG Zr Td. 90bhp ( £60 fix to up that to 125bhp), 54mpg, rapid. Ok, its a Rover, build quality isnt too good, but lots of room, can leave it anywhere. Perfect. Ive got a 2door one, should of got a 4door, but hey.

With your budget, MG TZ CDTi. Later ones come with the 135bhp bmw diesel engine. They come with auto / leather / satnav, alloys and see around 45mpg. They can be upped to around 175bhp for a few more ££££.

With £5K, you have endless choice, however if you go BWM / Audi, expect high mileage.
