Default 207GTi 175

I've just been looking at some of these for sale and for a late model car they are cheap (i know peugeot)
Has anyone owned a 175 1.6T and can comment on reliability, etc?
I did have a 206 180Gti a few years ago which had the gremlins in the electrics - are these now sorted?

Mrs MattW had one for 2 years, we had a cpiple of stange dasjh warning errors that seemed to clear themselves, however be warned, it was a 15k list car but we paid 11.5 with discount, so residuals are not going to be the best.

Have to say the car was utter crap though, lifeless steering and pretty asmatic. Wasn't a very special place to be.

We replaced it with a Mini Cooper S clubman (same engine) and that is a much better car.

Thanks Matt
it'll just be used for the 8 miles run to work so doesn't need to be quick just reliable

the ones i've seen are 57 - 08 plates for £8k - £9k which seem cheap enough for <20000 miles cars
I didn't realise they were only £15k new? not a bad price compared to most new cars

Edited to say, was going to get the 175 as the discount on them was more than the GT...madness....but they are 3 door only.

Hmm, agree in general with the above. Peugeot haven't made a decent hot hatch since the 306 GTi-6 went out of production.

I wouldn't buy a nearly new french car but for pottering around in, second hand older (10 years or so) french cars are the business.

Agreed with some reservations...

I don't fit in 306s as the roof line's too low. The 5 doors are actually WORSE as the seats are even higher in those. Shame as I'd wanted one...

Smaller, older French cars can be great; nippy, economical, rewarding... Just don't have a major crash in one! This is why I have a Fabia VRS, complete change of focus from an AX GT or 205 GTI.
