Renault Modus Brake Pedal Issue
My mum just rang me to say that the Modus she drives for an old lady she looks after (part time live in carer) played up last week. When she stopped and used the brake pedal it went to the floor. She pumped it and there was a whooshing sound like air escaping. She rang my old man who of course said dont drive it. She called her breakdown and got them to take it to the local Renault dealer. Theyve now checked and of course found nothing wrong but then tell her that the sound of whooshing air is normal on a Modus.
Anyone had one of these as to me that just sound like total crap?

The servo operates on vacuum from the inlet manifold so the whooshing noise probably isn't anything to worry about. If it was whooshing and the pedal was hard to press I'd say the servo / hose was at fault.
If the pedal goes right down it would suggest a hydraulic fault

Oh yeah, to check the servo operation, start it up for a minute or two. Turn it off and then press the brake a few times. You should hear it whoosh a few times and the pedal should become noticeably harder to press. Once the vacuum has gone, stick your foot on the brake and start the engine, the pedal should move further down.
