How do they compare for handling, running costs and what sort of power can they handle before it becomes too much for the FWD?

I'd have the ST too, think the VXR might be slightly more powerful out of the box but the ST is an altogether better car.

 

i had a st and test drove a vxr, the st is ten times better.

faster, smoother, better cabin by a long way, better build quality, easily modded via bluefin and decat plus induction to 300 - 330 hp , no more can be got though.

the vxr is pretty but the st grows on you especially when lowered. the cabin in the vxr is awful, the turbo as such a short power band, understeer is awful.

the st is a smooth refined fast cruiser tbh boring i had one and it was perfectly fine but still only had it 3 weeks sold it and got a tommi mak - lol

ps the traction control on the st is a joke and dangerous - turn it off.

 

I test drove both and hated the vxr as it was so boring to drive it just felt like as normal astra but faster, the ST is way better inside and sounds alot better, just abit heavy up front and drinks fuel
