Default Audi A8 4.2 Tdi

Picked up a runabout
Was in Audi on friday just having a nosey as i quite fancy an RS6 avant & seen an A8 that i really liked so after some discussions i bought it, traded in my 535d tourer for it. I reckon i got a cracking deal as they paid 1k over CAP clean for my 535d & i paid 1k under glasses retail for the A8.
It is a cracking big car. Its obviously the older 09 shape but it ticks all the box. I am 6ft 3" and an adult can sit comfortably behind me.
Its not what i was looking for but its lovely.
Anyone driven one ?

You mean you haven't? Must be the only motor you've not owned so far.

I have the 4.0 TDi A8- and love it. Was toying with the idea of an S8, but the TDi does literally double the mpg.

Have driven the 3.0 TDi and it is a cracking car.

My boss (whose car it is) rates it much higher than any of the BMW/Mercs he's had in the past.

Great in the snow BTW

I'll second that. Our X5, which I'll shout from the hilltops about- its that good- is dreadful in the snow. It slips and slides and generally feels really dangerous. Could be the 20" 355s though ...

The Audi feels so sure footed it really surprised me. It was only supposed to be a short-term, between cars type of purchase, but it really is very very good.

I've had ours down to DMS and its made an excellent car much better

my uncle was offered an A8 2009 tdi for 17k when a colleague went bankrupt this year.

the finance company said- 17k and its yrs.

it was sold through a closed finance auction for just 15k.

stunning car: he actually turned it down, just indifferent about having one.

I've had a few cars in my time After a weekend with it, its quite nice. Probably drop like a lead balloon but hey-ho.
Its got some sort of tuner so that you can get TV on the move (not that your meant to) which includes SKY sports new. Reception is crystal clear as well, i dont know if its been retro fitted but its cracking.
Engine is really goood & has a rear camera as well for reversing .. in fact its loaded with toys
All in, all in its really nice.

Still hankering over an RS6
