Hi yes i remember these, if i remember correctly i think they were 204 bhp- a slightly detuned 3litre not the later 3.2 you mention, i think that the crank was different by some way, shape or form, they were very expensive and didnt offer any performance benefits over the 2 litre tubo Thema!
Nice noise though.
P.s the Thema shares a floorpan with the Alfa 164, Fiat Croma and SAAB 9000 so it must be 'a boat' then according to some on these forums!
Pete.

Lancia & Ferrari are both owned by Fiat, so there has been a lot of sharing of components over the years.
The Lancia Stratos (aka rally weapon) had the V6 engine from a Ferrari Dino powering it!
Not sure about others, but there was a cr@ppy looking boxey Lancia Saloon in the 80's that had a Ferrari engine, which is what you're on about. Not sure if it was the Thema or not?!
I remember Clarkson testing one and he said it was very quick, but did NOT handle and scared the hell out of him!

I had one going back a few years ago and lost shed loads of money on it i chopped it in for an Intergrale 16v...It was a Mike Spence car, when he was based in Shinfield, Reading.

The engine was the 308's engine, except that it had a normal V8 crank, not flat-plane (as in F355, 360M, Lotus Esprit and TVR AJP8 engines, to name a few). So it didn't sound the same as a Ferrari.

Actually it was only when Lancia threatened to put the Maserati Bora V8 in the back of the Stratos that Ferrari agreed to come up with the requisite 500 Dino engines for the Stratos.

Some 'wag' once noted that 8.32 was the lifetime of the front tyres, in seconds.
They never sold well because they were ludicrously expensive compare to the Thema Turbo i.e. (injezione elettronico) but their performance wasn't that much better.

Lol @ carl
They were good cars, but maybe where mine was modded a bit (but not by much in comparison to todays mods) I dont know whether it made it a tad unreliable...but going back then most Lancias were great (as long as the welds held together )
Mine was RHD and only 7 months or so old when I had it, but I heard it got nicked somewhere along the line...
I lost a few quid on it and have done since then on certain other makes of cars....but it did bring a big grin to me then. But going back then you only had certain cars that would whoop you a$$, thats why I went back to having a Cossy after the Intergrale sold..
Now-a-days theres loads of decent cars about... all good, but the Insurance and speeding malarky is out of hand! You loose your licence now days and you loose your job as well.

As Luke says you are not getting a Ferrari engine at all just one put together by Ducati, which if you remember, during that era made very unreliable motorbike engines which were good for about 5 mins running time between rebuilds. Couple that to probably the worlds worse car body manufacturer, and you have a rather unappealling mix. I had a Thema and it basically dissolved, so disregard any tales of better build quality ( in Classic and Sports Car), over the even worse Beta.
