Default Which car??

which car would people choose out of the three below??

Audi RS4 B7, Porsche 911 TT (996), Nissan GTR

can't decide at which to look at getting for next car, i know prices between 3 can vary alot but with th GTR being at the top end of budget.

What do you need the car for, how often do you carry passengers, how many annual miles do you do and what do you drive now.......

I thought I would jump in early with the questions -

Without having driven any of the above, its purely a combination of guess work and personal taste. I think for me, it would be the GTR, then the 911. The RS4 wouldnt be in the same line up. And for me, the 911 to go for would be an GT3 RS. (996 or 997). If it was GTR vs GT3 RS.... that would be very very tough, I love the GT3 RS. I guess it will depend on whats important to you (status, performance, how it drives etc) and what you're going to use it for.

I realise it will be a real chore going tyre kicking for the above mentioned cars , but I think until you've been and driven all of the above, you'll never really be able to make a totally informed decision. I personally think the tyre kicking process is all part of the enjoyment.

Whichever you end up going for, they're all cracking cars, and I'd be happy with any one of them!!

If it's an everyday car and i had a family....then the RS4. It ticks all my boxes as a complete car, but if it's a sportscar for just me, then the Porsche.

Love the idea of the GTR, but with the Porker being such close competition with the GTR, i'd rather have the pedigree or the Porsche.

RS4 for me as a family man, but 911 if it was the second car, and I could fit in them.

GTR is too ugly and complex/expensive to run IMO.

Weekend car - 911 Turbo.
Everyday car - RS4.

Not keen on the GT-R. Seen a couple up close, and although they are by far one of the quickest point to point cars on the planet (so is the 996 Turbo) it just doesn't make me want one. No sole to it, no prestege, just technology packed.

currently drivin around in a MY99 Type R as a sort of weekend toy and a pug 306 hdi as a run around, so suppose the new car would be like a daily driver, and as said by some people the GTR seems to have alot of expensive problems with them, so prob gonna be a 996 TT or a RS4

For me it would be the 996 hands down. Perfect everyday car, Feels refined and sensible for the trip to work. On the weekend you can drive it like a proper sports car, fast, responsive and lovely sound.

IMO the Porsche is the is the best of both worlds, and I know people thinks this makes me sound snobby but when you are asked the question "what car do you drive" your answer can only be
1, A nissan
2, An Audi
or
3, A PORSCHE!!!!!!

I am biased though

****s sake man, stop stalking him!
Everytime he posts you reply to what he's said without contributing to the actual thread in question.
Me and Matt haven't always seen eye to eye, and I know sometimes he comes across as a cocktard (no offence Matt) but.... c'mon, you're starting to look a little daft now.

OP - apologies for going off topic.

I have contributed. Spending 20k to charge the rs4 is a stupid idea

And if it was me, Id say GTR, then 911, then the rs4. Why not a new m3? Used one start at 34k up.

The RS4 lost all my interest the day i found out Chris Moyles drives one.

Have to be the Porsche for me as i am a bit of a poser, the GTR is ugly and bloated looking, saying you own a Nissan conjours up images of a Bluebird rather than a 'Ring Attacker. My mate loves being asked what he drives only to answer, A Porsche! it sounds cool but then again when anyone asks me what i drive i just say an Alfa.......i just miss out the bit about the 1.6 engine or it being a hatchback.

I think if you were that way inclined and wanted to find a list of celebs you dont like, you'll probably find a whole host of them that drive cars that are superb, so I wouldnt let that put me off. (but moyles is a t*at - agreed).

I reckon if I owned a Porsche and someone asked what I drove, I'd more than likely say a 911, sounds slightly less tw*ty, if I had a Nissan GTR, I'd probably say, I have the new Nissan GTR and not be too fussed what the person thinks, cos i know its the dogs conkers!! If someone who knows nothing about cars wants to have a conversation about them, I really couldnt give two hoots about their opinion, same applies to someone who does know a thing or two. Its what I think that matters - thats why Ive owned 3 Scoobies

very true but you really don't understand how much i hate chris moyles.

People buy cars for different reasons, I'd be hard pushed to overlook a Porsche if i had the money to buy a 911. Maybe its to do with age but i can remember watching BadBoys for the first time and seeing the 911 in it and just going yep, i'll have that!

I reckon I have an idea - he's an absolute tool, if he comes on the radio, I have to switch it off immediately

I know what you're saying about the Porsche, and may be it is an age thing (I'm 34 btw) but I recall Nevetas saying when he got his 911T although it was an awesome car, he felt it was something he'd revisit when he was a little older. Now, the GT3 RS.... I think thats a different kettle of fish. If it was GT3 RS vs GTR... no brainer for me... the GT3 RS everytime.

I've only driven the 911 Turbo out of that lot. It was bone crushingly quick however, it didn't seem that special. I think the GTR would be a far more enjoyable ownership experience and more entertaining to drive.

If you need any real practicality then the RS4 is obviously the top choice.

I think I am going to buy a 968 club sport later this year, I was going to get a c4s but for the money I have spare I cant get a clean one.
I would still advocate the Porsche, I have heard (from POC) that the 996 C4s is going to be a future sort after model like the 993 turbo, good points are they are still fairly cheap compared to other later 911 models.

Tim, I don't think any 996 will be a sought after model (and I include the turbo in that) except a MK 1 GT3/RS and the GT2's - of which there aren't many good ones left.

Most Porsche aficionados rate the C4S as the prettiest 996 built.
